In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and to begin building a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic relationship. I aim to create a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can share what has brought you to therapy at a pace that feels comfortable for you. During this session, we will talk about your current concerns, relevant life experiences, and what you are hoping to gain from therapy. I may ask questions to better understand your emotional wellbeing, relationships, stressors, and strengths, as well as any previous experiences with therapy. Together, we will begin to identify your goals and discuss how therapy can best support you. I will also explain my approach to therapy, confidentiality, and practical matters such as session structure and boundaries. While the first session is primarily about understanding you, it is also a chance for you to ask questions and decide whether working together feels like the right fit. You do not need to prepare anything in advance or know exactly what to say—showing up as you are is enough. By the end of our first session, many clients feel clearer about their next steps and reassured that they are not navigating things alone.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to integrate deep clinical expertise with genuine human connection. I bring a calm, grounded presence to the therapeutic space, particularly during times of crisis, helping clients feel safe, understood, and supported even when emotions feel overwhelming. I am highly skilled in working with complex and co-occurring mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodiversity, and identity-related challenges. My approach is evidence-informed, strengths-based, and developmentally attuned, allowing me to meet each client where they are while thoughtfully guiding them toward meaningful and sustainable change. What often stands out to clients is my balance of warmth and structure. I provide clear frameworks, practical tools, and psychoeducation while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness to each individual’s needs. Clients frequently report gaining not only insight, but also increased confidence, emotional regulation skills, and a stronger sense of agency in their lives. Above all, I value collaboration. I work alongside clients as an engaged partner in the therapeutic process, respecting their lived experience and autonomy. This collaborative, compassionate approach helps clients build resilience, clarity, and long-term wellbeing beyond the therapy room.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to work with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are navigating complex mental health challenges, life transitions, and identity development. My ideal clients are individuals who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, neurodiversity-related challenges (including autism spectrum conditions), or co-occurring mental health and psychosocial stressors. I work especially well with clients who are seeking a thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-informed therapeutic relationship—those who want not only symptom relief, but deeper understanding, emotional regulation skills, and sustainable personal growth. Many of my clients are motivated to make meaningful change but may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I am particularly well suited to support young people and families during periods of crisis, transition, or heightened stress, as well as individuals who value a collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach to therapy. My clients often appreciate a balance of clinical expertise, structure, and warmth, and are open to engaging in reflective work that promotes resilience, self-awareness, and long-term wellbeing.
