LCSW, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
I have worked in the therapy field for a little over 6 years. I have worked in a community-based setting, private practice, and currently working in the school system. I tell my clients, "Therapy is safe place to talk about what you want to talk about." I have worked with all ages of clients, but due to the virtual platform, I think it is best for ages 10 and up. I approach each client with empathy and care to create a safe environment for us to work through whatever concerns you bring to the table. I typically do not come to session with an "agenda", so you are in control of how our session goes. I am always here to guide and help explore but want to make sure you're getting what you need from our time.
Our first session is more of a "Get to Know You" session. I will have some questions, but am also here to answer yours. I like to learn why you are seeking therapy, what your past looks like and what you would like the future to look like.
I pride myself in making my clients feel comfortable. I have had several clients tell me they were worried about therapy at first but feel comfortable with me and have seen a change in themselves.
Again due to being virtual only right now, I think I would best serve clients 10 and above. I have lots of experience with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, past traumatic experiences and working through life changes. Teenagers and young adults typically do well with virtual as they can work it around their busy schedules, especially those in high school sports or with a college and work schedule.
I believe that one of the best ways to feel comfortable working with someone is to know they care. I approach each session with no judgment and open to hear your story.
The real expert in your therapy session is YOU. You know you best, so I strive to address what you want to work on. Sometimes that looks like venting about school/work; other times it is diving into some harder issues. I am here to walk with you through it all.
While I am not a Registered Play Therapist. I feel confident incorporating some play techniques with my younger clients to work on certain skills and build rapport.
I see therapy as a tool for you to use. I am here to support you through whatever your therapy journey looks like.
A lot of times, clients come to me for one reason and while we explore that, past experiences come up. I know that these experiences impact our lives now and approach each of them with care.
