New to Grow
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have worked with individuals and couples seeking counseling for over 9 years, both online and in private practice. It is my pleasure to have the privilege of working with you. In providing psychotherapy my goal is to support and empower Clients to resolve concerns/challenges and to gain skills to use going forward. I offer a confidential and safe space where you can feel comfortable discussing your concerns which may include feelings of anxiety or depression or feeling stuck and unsure as to how you can move forward.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In the first session- We will talk about what is private and what are the legal exceptions (danger to self/or others, child abuse, dependent adults, elder abuse). I will explain the therapeutic approaches I use. We will briefly discuss your history and your main concerns so that we can set some goals which you would like to achieve while in therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am welcoming, warm and empathetic. Clients generally describe me as easy to talk to and that I also help them feel understood. I provide a safe space for Client to talk and work on their concerns. it is important for me to communicate in a clear and honest manner so there is total transparency. I use a combination of therapeutic approached including- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT ), which helps you notice how your thoughts, feelings and actions are connected , then we can determine a plan to help you move forward. Mindfulness ,which will help you to pay attention to what is happening now, not in the past or future, without judging yourself. We will explore different grounding exercises, which will help you stay in the present. Trauma based therapy-which helps your brain and body realize that the danger is over, even when it still feels like it is still present. I support Clients in identifying triggers and teach coping skills.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
In my practice I work with Clients, who are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self esteem and feeling challenged when establishing health relationships with self and other. We talk about learning how we can work together so there can be a reduction in symptoms of anxiety , depression, self acceptance and acceptance of others, using healthy boundaries and providing tools to achieve these goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness for 9 years. I have found that both these therapies help Clients identify their concern( self identified presenting problem). Thus allowing for a therapeutic approach that targets and works with resolving or coping with the the identified concerns.
