New to Grow
My name is Mayra Ramirez and as a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience in the mental health field, I believe prioritizing your mental well-being is essential to becoming the best version of yourself. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University and have since gained extensive experience working with individuals facing a wide range of mental health concerns. As a social worker in a psychiatric emergency room, I have the privilege of working with various age groups ranging from age 5 to adulthood. In addition to my emergency room experience, I provide individual and family psychotherapy.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where they feel heard and respected. We’ll start by getting to know what brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to gain from it. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences, current challenges, strengths, and any past therapy experiences.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My goal is to provide an empathic, supportive, and therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, heard, and understood. I focus on building a strong, trusting relationship while collaboratively addressing your specific needs and developing practical life skills to support positive change, growth, and long-term well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to better understand themselves and are open to growth and change. I work well with adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and unresolved trauma. Many of my clients are high-functioning but feel overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or disconnected. They are seeking a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can gain insight, build healthier coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through a structured and collaborative approach, I support clients in identifying unhelpful thinking patterns and developing healthier, more balanced ways of coping. CBT in my practice is goal-oriented, practical, and tailored to each individual’s unique needs, empowering clients with tools they can use long after therapy ends.
Psychodynamic
I incorporate Psychodynamic Therapy to help clients explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns may influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Through a reflective and insight-oriented process, I support clients in increasing self-awareness, understanding relational patterns, and gaining deeper insight into the root causes of distress.
Trauma-Focused CBT
I provide trauma-focused therapy to help clients safely process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences. I support clients in understanding how trauma impacts the mind and body, developing healthy coping skills, and gradually reducing trauma-related symptoms. My approach is compassionate, paced, and grounded in creating a sense of safety, empowerment, and resilience.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps individuals explore and resolve ambivalence about change. I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations to support clients in identifying their own motivations and building confidence toward meaningful, lasting change.
