I hold a Masters in Counseling with Applied Behavior Analysis, as well as a Master's certificate in Play Therapy. I am currently working on a PhD in Developmental Psychology. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the steps towards change and growth. My objective within the therapy process is to give you a safe space to identify and work toward your goals, as well as find long term solutions toward healing. I look forward to working with you!
First session is all about getting to know you. I want to discuss your history, understand your needs throughout the therapy process, learn about what brings you in to therapy and how can I help you achieve your goals.
Many therapists do not have training and understanding in how to help neurodiverse clients be successful in the therapy process. I have built my practice on helping those that have struggled finding understanding elsewhere. My primary masters is in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and my internship was specified within helping children, teens, and adults heal from trauma/ PTSD. Many parents need assistance in learning how to be more mindful of their child's symptoms and helping them learn to be successful in academic and social endeavors. I have training and experience in behavior modification and also work with children to learn about themselves and have more understanding for their neurodiverse super powers.
I have worked with a variety of clients throughout the years, but I specialize in neurodiversity, be it ADHD or ASD, as well as trauma. I help clients understand and heal from their depression and anxiety symptoms linked to PTSD and help them to make changes to be more positive and healthy in their daily lives. Some clients struggle with organizational skills, time blindness difficulties and/or emotional dysfunction related to neurodiversity. Through the therapeutic process I can help them understand their symptoms and implement different techniques to help them achieve their goals.
Most evidence based practice is rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapies. I have extensive training in evidence based practices and will find the modality to meet each client's individual needs.
Cognitive processing therapy is one of the highest evidence based practices for processing of trauma. I have been trained and utilized this therapy technique for close to 10 years.
I work with many clients within the LGBTQ+ population and discuss each client's goals for the therapeutic process to find what works best for them.
One of my primary focuses within the therapy process is to help clients with trauma heal. Often clients don't realize their depression and anxiety symptoms are actually symptoms of PTSD. It is never too late to heal from trauma and work toward better belief systems about yourself, others and the world.
Every client is different and every client has different needs throughout therapy. I will work with you to find what works best for you, even if that means taking trainings to help you be more successful.
