LPC, 3 years of experience
New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona. I have spent 10+ years serving the community to help people with disabilities and the seriously mentally ill. My approach to therapy starts with a person-centered foundation and builds treatment around each individual. I want to build trust and affirm the experiences of every person I treat. I will make treatment recommendations and make adjustments until we find the best path forward. I believe each person is on their own journey and my role is to walk alongside them and help them find their best path. My goal is that each person can find resilience and rediscover the joy life has to offer.
Our first session will involve providing information on what to expect in therapy followed by an open conversation to get to know each other. Clients can expect to leave sessions with me feeling validated and understood. My hope is that a little perspective and some new skills can help every individual build a life worth living.
My education began in human communication which provides me a unique perspective and approach to working with people. I approach everyone as an individual and with compassion, empathy, validation, and honesty. I do these things with a casual approach to allows me to be myself and connect with others. I work to balance when to push and when to bring in some humor. I have had the honor to be a part of people's stories in some small way. I continue to be motivated in this position by witnessing the great successes and transformations of people that I met in their lowest lows. I have hope that is possible for anyone who wants it.
I am able to serve a variety of individuals who are seeking to understand themselves better, learn skills to more effectively handle the challenges life throws at them, and establish a path forward to building a life worth living. If you are seeking a therapist to help you on the path to recovery from mental illness or everyday problems, then I may be the right fit. I understand the desire for things to be different and can help with finding the tools to help that change occur.
I have been providing comprehensive DBT in community mental health for 3 years including individual treatment and leading group skills training. I utilize DBT to help with effective skill building, growing mindfulness practice, improving quality of life and recovering from trauma.
I have incorporated CBT into my practice as the foundation for talk therapy. Understanding thoughts, emotions, and behaviors can be an effective catalyst for change.
I have been trained in EMDR and effectively practicing for 2+ years. This treatment is evidence based to help address and reprocess past trauma. Individuals are assessed for appropriateness of treatment and may participate in skill building to provide for safe participation of treatment to address trauma.
The foundation of all treatment starts with a person-centered approach to understand each person as an individual. This helps to identify the best approach to treatment and any other modalities that they may benefit from.
