New to Grow
Hello, I am Mark Chaney. I am a therapist who works with a wide range of concerns. Some areas I am very passionate about are disability, chronic illness, LGBTQ, depression and anxiety. Given that I am a therapist who has a physical disability, cerebral palsy. I have a passion for working with those who might be struggling in their disability or health journey. I am also a gay man and have a passion for working with my community.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate treatment. We will complete a assessment and create treatment goals that reflect your unique situation and presenting concerns.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am a compassionate and direct therapist. I want our sessions to be a conversation and be helpful and impactful. I often use humor in my practice/approach. I always see you as an expert and understand that I work for you.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with clients who may be struggling with disability, depression, anxiety or stress. I use a strengths focus, meaning, I see you as having strengths to foster to meet your challenges. I see you as the expert in your experience. Every client is unique and their treatment should reflect that. I also use an eclectic approach, meaning I pull from different modalities to fit your needs.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy( CBT ) in my work. CBT examines how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors impact you. CBT works to help you address unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It helps to identify maladaptive patterns and make positive change.
Eclectic
I use an eclectic approach in my practice. Eclectic means I pull from other areas or treatment types to make your treatment individualized. No person is the same. Your therapy/treatment should reflect that.
