Hello! I am Wendy Theriot,MA,LPC. I specialize in EMDR which can help heal the brain and body from post traumatic stress, anxiety, physical pain, depression (honestly anything the client is living with that is hindering their life). I have done extensive trauma focused therapy with First Responders and Military Personnel .In addition to the methods above I also use DBT to help certain clients struggling with emotional regulation and CBT where with the client and I look at specific patterns of behaviors, thoughts, and feelings in order to change negative feedback loops.

Clients can expect the first and second session to be Intake in person or virtual if the client is wanting CBT/DBT/or EMDR.

I work with individuals but I also work with couples. When working with couples I use Gottman’s Method of evaluating, and helping the clients address any concerns or negative feedback loops in their relationship or family system. There is power in the counseling process to work through even the most difficult life challenges, and I always consider it an honor when I can be a part of that journey. My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR can help heal the brain and body from post traumatic stress, anxiety, physical pain, depression, eating disorders, addictions-honestly anything the client is living with that is hindering their life. I only do EMDR in person, not virtual.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The client and I look at specific patterns of behaviors, thoughts, tand feelings that lead to either negative or positive feedback loops in their life. I then give "homework" that the client can then practice to see if those negative feedback loops change.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

This form of therapy works well with people who have been diagnosed with BPD or who have a history of toxic relationships and emotional disregulation.

Couples Counseling

I use Gottman’s Method to work with the clients in order to help them heal and grow as a couple.
