About me

Hello and welcome. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Northwest Indiana, and I am also licensed as an LCPC in Illinois and an LPC in Michigan. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling from Purdue University Northwest and have been in practice for more than 12 years. My clinical work focuses on supporting individuals navigating anxiety, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, and family-related stress. I also have extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and those adjusting to the challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, and maternal mental health. I aim to create a counseling space that is calm, respectful, and collaborative — one where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll begin with brief introductions, but the real focus is on you. I will spend time getting to know your story and understanding what led you to seek therapy at this point in your life. While the initial session is largely about gathering information, you are invited to share at the pace and depth that feels comfortable for you. This early conversation helps us build trust, establish rapport, and begin easing you into the counseling process in a way that feels safe and supported.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

In my clinical work, I am intentional about creating a space where clients feel safe, accepted, and genuinely seen. I practice from a multicultural lens, honoring each client’s background, identity, and lived experience while fostering an environment of inclusion for all. My therapeutic approach is both collaborative and practical. I frequently integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to build skills that support real-life change. I also use a strengths-based framework, helping you recognize and utilize the abilities, values, and resources you already possess as part of the healing process. Together, we will set meaningful goals and work toward outcomes that matter to you, while I gently challenge and support you to grow in ways that align with the life you want to create. My hope is not only to understand your story — but to help you move toward a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and empowered.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with a diverse range of individuals and families across the lifespan. My practice includes children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating challenges related to mental health, mood disorders, and everyday life obstacles. A particular area of focus for me is assisting those going through life transitions, such as helping parents and caregivers navigate the complexities of parenting and co-parenting, managing divorce or separation, and preparing for college and career readiness.

I will always recommend her to anyone, because I wouldn't be in the headspace I'm in now without her.

Jil was what I had hoped for in a therapist. Kind warm and inviting. I felt safe enough to share deep feelings and problems right off the bat and I didn’t anticipate that happening. Waited a very long time to do therapy and I’m glad this was my first experience. Thank you
