(she/her)
Hi. I'm an old white lady with years of experience living on this earth. I want to share what I've learned with you and assist you to recover from trauma, abuse, and attachment dysregulation. I'm culturally competent and have specific experience working with people who are first-generation Americans who are walking the line between two cultures, learning how to integrate all their parts into a cohesive whole.
In our first session we will go over that profile paperwork you filled out. I will ask questions to fill in information if I think I need more details to better assist you. Mostly we will just talk. I will listen while you share what brings you to me and what you hope to get out of therapy. This information will be important for our second session where we will work together creating your treatment plan.
I have developed a trauma- informed platform of educating you on how your brain grows from conception to today. Many of the behaviors and thoughts you have today have their origins in your very early life. These behaviors and thoughts worked for you as a child, but they hinder you in your adult life. As we work on improving who you are today, we will look at impulse control, emotional management, and how your mind and body work together (or don't, but should). We will improve your communication skills and learn how to create effective boundaries. This is hard work. My ideal client will come to me wanting to make changes and be willing to put in the necessary effort to succeed moment to moment. I hope that client is you.
My focus is on adults, couples or individuals, who have experienced childhood trauma and want to learn how they have carried that trauma into their adult lives. This is a great process for couples to use to learn better communication skills. I also use this method when working with clients with process addictions like gambling, gaming, shopping, and sex addiction. Healing from childhood trauma requires work. My ideal client is someone who is ready to begin that work. We will work on identifying negative core beliefs, learning how these beliefs developed when you were a very young child, and learning how to replace these beliefs with positive neuropathways to overcome the effects of this negativity. You will find out about the importance of attachment and discover your attachment style. This information will be important as we explore your values, reinforce positive communication skills, and learn to set healthy boundaries. While we will focus on learning this body of information during the first few weeks, we will also spend time discussing your current issues. This way, you will begin to utilize the tools you are learning in sessions and take them out into the world for real-life experiences.

I use several of the techniques from ACT to assist you to build a toolbox of skills you will use for the rest of your life to learn to take charge of your emotions and act on them rather than react to them.

I appreciate Rhonda greatly. She is highly knowledgeable and directly relates your experiences to an actionable root of understanding. She focuses on your bio/neurophysiological responses and explains her analysis and reasoning very clearly. She operates from a foundation up approach and includes relevant educational recommendations within a very welcoming and warm environment. Her feedback is measured and thoughtful, she is a breath of fresh air, and a true professional.

My wife and I really value our weekly sessions with Rhonda. We appreciate that she never makes us feel judged or talked down to in any way. She is very open minded and makes it easy to talk to her. Its been a nice balance of her guiding us through therapy exercises and just letting us talk to see where it leads. Everything feels natural and conversational. Like being with a safe family member.
