Hi. I'm an old white lady with years of experience living on this earth. I want to share what I've learned with you and assist you to recover from trauma, abuse, and attachment dysregulation. I'm culturally competent and have specific experience working with people who are first-generation Americans who are walking the line between two cultures, learning how to integrate all their parts into a cohesive whole.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will go over that profile paperwork you filled out. I will ask questions to fill in information if I think I need more details to better assist you. Mostly we will just talk. I will listen while you share what brings you to me and what you hope to get out of therapy. This information will be important for our second session where we will work together creating your treatment plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have developed a trauma- informed platform of educating you on how your brain grows from conception to today. Many of the behaviors and thoughts you have today have their origins in your very early life. These behaviors and thoughts worked for you as a child, but they hinder you in your adult life. As we work on improving who you are today, we will look at impulse control, emotional management, and how your mind and body work together (or don't, but should). We will improve your communication skills and learn how to create effective boundaries. This is hard work. My ideal client will come to me wanting to make changes and be willing to put in the necessary effort to succeed moment to moment. I hope that client is you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I talk a lot, educating you on how your beginnings influence who you are today. I listen well, too. I suggest, I don't demand. I believe therapy needs to be collaborative, approached from a position that you know you, what is working for you and what is not, and that you have come to me to share YOU so I can assist you to be your own change agent.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use several of the techniques from ACT to assist you to build a toolbox of skills you will use for the rest of your life to learn to take charge of your emotions and act on them rather than react to them.

Attachment-based

I will assist you to identify your type of attachment and explain what that means for you today. I will assist you to understand negative core beliefs and how you can apply the techniques and skills you learn to overcome these negative influences.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have over 30 years of experience working with children and families, both as a special- needs infant/ toddler childcare provider and as a foster parent. I use this massive amount of experience to assist parents to learn new ways to work with their children.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through Cognitive Behavior Therapy, we will work on expanding your thought processes as part of your skill building. You will learn to pay attention the physical cues your body gives you to help you regulate your emotions.

Couples Counseling

My trauma informed therapy platform works well with couples as well as individuals. As each person learns how to regulate their emotions, they learn better ways to communicate with each other and accept personal responsibility for their actions, ending the "blame game" that tears so many couples apart.
