Kimberly Madison
Hello, I'm Kimberly, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. Do you find yourself feeling disconnected and unheard? Are you seeking a safe place to explore your emotions and break unwanted patterns? I help individuals cope with high-functioning levels of anxiety and depression.
I work well with clients who want to create new life patterns and break away from life patterns that were established from a place of survival.
I also walk with clients in helping to uncover current dysfunctional patterns that are rooted in adverse past experiences. I work with individuals who want to break free from unhealthy cycles and who are looking for practical tools to ease symptoms such as overthinking, poor boundaries, lack of self-love, life transitions and a deflated mood.
First session
Our first session is all about getting to know you and helping you feel comfortable in the therapeutic space. We’ll spend time building rapport, reviewing your intake information, and talking about what brought you to therapy. We’ll also complete a bio-psychosocial assessment, which simply helps me better understand your experiences, current concerns, symptoms, relationships, and other areas of your life that may be important to your care. Together, we’ll begin identifying your goals for therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or share everything at once, we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Strengths
I work well with clients who want to create new life patterns and break away from life patterns that were established from a place of survival. I work with clients who are looking to manage high functioning anxiety and depression.
Ideal clients
I work with individuals who may appear to have it all together on the outside but are quietly struggling with anxiety, depression, overthinking, emotional exhaustion, or the pressure to keep pushing through. Many of my clients have developed patterns that once helped them survive difficult experiences but now leave them feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. My ideal client is ready to understand those patterns, create healthier ways of coping, and move beyond simply surviving. I provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can process your experiences, learn practical coping strategies, and begin creating a life that feels more balanced, authentic, and fulfilling.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify thought patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck and work toward healthier ways of thinking and responding.
EMDR
I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you process difficult or traumatic experiences that may still be affecting how you feel, think, or respond today. In a safe and supportive environment, we work together to reduce the emotional intensity connected to painful memories and help you develop healthier ways of understanding those experiences. The goal is not to erase what happened, but to help you move forward without the past having the same hold on your present.
Compassion Focused
I use Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help you develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with yourself, especially when you struggle with self-criticism, shame, or feeling like you’re not enough. Together, we’ll explore where these patterns come from and practice ways to respond to yourself with greater compassion and understanding. The goal is to help you quiet your inner critic, build emotional resilience, and approach life’s challenges with more confidence and self-acceptance.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I use Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help you slow down, become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, and feel more grounded in the present moment.
