About me

Welcome, I am Mitchell Daas. I think it's a big deal you're looking for therapy today and I want to be a support in finding a therapist that is comforting and needed for your own goals and needs in therapy and life. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in Minnesota with over 8 years of experience working as a Dialectical Behavior Therapist and Outpatient Therapist. I have worked with individuals with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal relationship conflict, career, OCD, and ADHD. I emphasize the idea to create a welcoming and supportive environment in therapy and help improve your quality of life. I am here if that is something you're looking for.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will conduct an intake session. The majority of our session will be spent going over questions particular to what brings you in, clinical questions and any questions you might have for me around therapy, me, and any general questions. I will also give plenty of time to share other areas and goals of therapy as well. The goal is gaining perspective on what brings you in and also help see if this feels like a good fit therapy wise as well.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach is meeting you where you are at in life, in a situation and helping you towards your goals and values. This can be a combination of acceptance and validation and also pushing for change and solving. I will meet you where you are at with a variety of methods of therapy as well. I will typically use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Gottman Therapy as clinical approaches to best suite your needs in therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My therapy style is balancing acceptance and change in any moment and working towards building a life you want. I believe in treating anyone with a compassionate, nonjudgmental stance and encourage change when needed. My approach combines Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma-Focused therapy. I will work with you to move you towards your own life worth living goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I tend to use CBT as a way to help change unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviors and how they are all interconnected and that changing one area can lead to changes in others. We will focus on present day problems and look at ways to solve, change how you feel and tolerate depending on the situation.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is similar to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I tend to use it similar to making change to unhelpful thoughts, behaviors and emotion patterns and introduce acceptance and change. The goal is balancing out what is needed in the moment- accept or change and helping move towards that which leads to your life worth living goals over time (where I want to move, be or get to in life).

Gottman method

Gottman method is used as a researched skills and processing method to help couples in improving resilience, conflict resolution, meaning making through a variety of means of interpersonal skills, processing work, skill building, etc. I can help give a path to helping relationship dynamics that may be hard to label or discern how to know or address in therapy.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

I tend to use Exposure Response Prevention primarily around Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and will be used as as protocol or step by step treatment to reducing or eliminating OCD tendencies overtime.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy

I have been trained by the individual who created Prolonged Exposure Therapy in a week long training. I can help anyone looking for formal or informal trauma or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder therapy and relieve and eliminate trauma symptoms that you may be experiencing now. It's a protocol treatment (week by week) and can be done informally or formally depending on need.
