New to Grow
Hi, I’m Julie — a mental health therapist who works best with people who want something to change. My clients are often capable, thoughtful, and driven, yet feel off balance or stuck trying to manage all the moving parts of life. They might be juggling careers, relationships, or family responsibilities while feeling like they’ve lost focus, motivation, or direction. Others come in wanting better communication, stronger boundaries, or more balance in their relationships. If you’re ready to understand yourself more clearly and take practical steps toward feeling better, we’ll work well together.
In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, open conversation. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what’s been feeling difficult or confusing, and what you’d like to change. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and outline a plan that feels manageable and meaningful. My hope is that you leave that first meeting feeling understood, supported, and encouraged about your next steps forward.
Clients often tell me they appreciate that I’m straightforward, genuine, and easy to talk to. I read people quickly and get to the heart of what’s really going on without judgment. I’m not the type to sit in silence — I stay engaged, offer perspective, and give you tools you can actually use between sessions. I bring structure when things feel chaotic and help you turn insight into action. My style is warm but direct, combining empathy with practical strategies so therapy feels like progress, not just talk.
In sessions, I’m real, relaxed, and interactive. I don’t just sit back and nod — we’ll talk things through, find patterns, and figure out what’s actually going to help you feel better. I use practical tools, mindfulness, and conversation to help you understand what’s happening and make small, meaningful changes that add up over time.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy is a goal-oriented approach that helps the client identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. I use it for individual and couples sessions and find it applicable for many situations.
I use DBT to help clients learn and manage their intense emotions and improve and understand their emotions. The goal is to improve relationships and reduce a client's own self-destructive behaviors.
Working with couples by exploring the root causes of their problematic areas by developing better communication, building trust, and getting back to enjoying each others' company.
Solution Focused Therapy allows the client and the therapist to work together by focusing on the client's strengths and on past successes. I use this therapy in both individual and couples therapy and have found it to be beneficial in progressing through concerns.
I do not stick to one modality when trying to help my clients and really like to apply the theory that would best help them for their concerns and needs.
