LPC, 21 years of experience
Hi, I'm Attalie. Have you forgotten to take care of yourself? Do you often wonder what it would take to feel some sense of balance in your life again? We are faced with challenges and changes in life constantly. Making adjustments to pivot to meet the expectations of those changes often leads to feelings of overwhelm, disappointment, frustrations and a sense of depletion with no time to care for self. If you often escape, avoid, procrastinate or for that matter take on everyone else's issues except your own sense of wellness and health I am here to help empower you to develop and access your own inner resources and move toward self actualization and personal growth. I look at mental health in a wholistic sense. I mix mindfulness and decades of experience in fitness to help you find what works for you to live your best balanced life and find the fulfillment you need to step into the alignment of your purpose. Developing a strong relationship with self; defining your boundaries, recognizing your value systems and how they pertain to your way of being in this messy world are the staples to grounding yourself mentally. You are enough, you are deserving, and whatever you are dealing with now I'll meet you there. Let's work together to find tools that are intrinsically yours and get to a better you, so that each day is met with a sense of balance and well being despite the stressors in life.
Our first session together will consist of briefly reviewing your intake forms; completing or updating information that is pertinent to your treatment needs and protocols for virtual sessions. Most importantly it is a time for us to get to know each other. This is a professional relationship that develops over time, you may or may not feel comfortable right away. The decision to take this journey of self healing is a courageous one and I respect that; having the right travel companion is important. Should you find that I am the companion for this healing journey, we will forge ahead and if not I will happily help you to find who will work best for you.
Each patient is unique with their own set of circumstances. My strength in session is to provide you with what it is that you may need in the moment to help you feel understood, and explore with you ways to develop and access inner resources to support your own growth. Narratives that you have held and used as your truth may be questioned in session. I am assertive and I use analogies that may help you to apply very complicated clinical and evidenced based techniques in a way that helps you to create healthier habits and break unhealthy cycles or thought patterns that may have sabotaged your efforts to make changes and grow. Simplicity and consistency is a combination that we often forget. Any injury mental or physical requires us to come back to the basics and rehabilitate to a new norm. When we learn to do this during times of distress and chaos it helps us to find stability in the moment; however it may not have been the healthiest. I find that when I can use analogies that work best with the things you are passionate about, It is easier to understand; reflect, accept; apply and practice. Eventually, an honest look at thoughts that drive behaviors and how they affect you and others will come into focus. Change and transformation can be infectious; but it can also be isolating and I am honest and transparent with you as you work through each layer. I empathize however I will keep things real and hold you accountable to your journey.
I work well with those seeking growth, change or understanding, and have insight to the reasons behind the fear of doing so. Those individuals who believe in investing in their health and well being who can appreciate that its value is priceless. Without your health both physical and emotional what do you have? If any of the these strike a cord I look forward to working with you: Developing and having a relationship with self and what that means to you. Creating and maintaining boundaries personally and professionally. Codependent behaviors stemming from past abuse; abandonment and self abandonment. Learning interdependence and healthy communication with self and in your relationships. Navigating work life balance as highly driven executives, single Mom or Dad. Fitness professionals navigating and defining their own work life balance. Fitness and or training setbacks from injury Fitness or training setbacks due to anxiety or depression Releasing negative narratives that keep you stuck to old patterns of behavior. Changing financial mindset and tackling unhealthy generational money psychology. Having the tough conversations with self and those that you love about money. A space to talk through your thoughts without judgement and open to deeper insight or perspective. Anxious and avoidant attachment - being told you are not emotionally available or too "needy" Transitioning into a new season of life whether it is becoming a first time parent, empty nesting, divorce, entering or re-entering the world of dating, dealing with aging parents, adjusting to menopause or a spouse/significant other adjusting to and understanding hormonal changes, retirement from the military, prior military spouse, transitioning from military to civilian/corporate life.
21 years of experience in private practice with a diverse background. Culturally informed and aware having lived in a variety of countries as a former military brat and spouse. My initiation into this field was working with a military community that CBT often works well. At that time the military population was mostly men; however it was also the transition of more women entering into service and being accepted into combat roles. CBT is my foundational approach, it allows more flexibility to explore other modalities of treatment that blends nicely and may be necessary for an individual. My approach to therapy is also person centered and emotionally focused and a creative mix of whatever my patient may need to foster growth, and make healthy changes per design by the many stages of their mental health journey.

I have come to enjoy and look forward to my sessions with Attalie, even the uncomfortable ones! We celebrate my wins together and she challenges me when I fall into unhealthy patterns. Overall, she has made a huge difference in my life, and I am a better, more centered person for having worked with her.
