(she/her)
I am a compassionate and culturally sensitive Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to helping individuals navigate their mental health journeys with understanding and care. I specialize in psychiatric evaluation and medication management, prescribing evidence-based treatments tailored to your unique needs. While I do not provide ongoing therapy, I work closely and collaboratively with therapists to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care and optimal symptom management. Drawing from my background in military life and experience working with the LGBTQ+ community, I take a holistic approach that considers both mental health and the lifestyle factors shaping your experiences. My goal is to reduce stigma, promote stability and well-being, and empower you to move forward with confidence in a safe, supportive environment.
During your first session, we will complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. This includes reviewing your current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, previous medications, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals. I will ask thoughtful questions to better understand what you’ve been experiencing and how it is impacting your daily life, relationships, and overall functioning. If appropriate, we will discuss diagnostic impressions and treatment options, including medication management. As a prescribing provider, I focus on evidence-based medication strategies and will thoroughly review potential benefits, side effects, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision. If you are already working with a therapist, I strongly encourage collaborative care and am happy to coordinate (with your consent) to ensure we are aligned in managing your symptoms effectively. You can expect a respectful, nonjudgmental space where your concerns are heard and validated. My goal is to leave you feeling clear about next steps, supported in your treatment plan, and confident that we are working together toward meaningful progress.
My greatest strengths lie in thoughtful diagnostic clarity, individualized medication management, and collaborative care. I take time to thoroughly assess symptoms, patterns, and contributing factors to ensure we are treating the right condition—not just managing surface-level symptoms. My approach is evidence-based, yet highly personalized, recognizing that no two individuals respond to treatment the same way. As a prescribing provider, I am intentional and strategic with medications—carefully weighing benefits, side effects, long-term considerations, and your personal preferences. I prioritize education so you understand why a medication is recommended and feel empowered in your treatment decisions. While I do not specialize in providing ongoing therapy, I strongly value collaboration. I work hand-in-hand with therapists and other providers (with your consent) to ensure cohesive, comprehensive care. Clients often appreciate my culturally sensitive, nonjudgmental style and my ability to create a space where they feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their mental health journey.
My ideal clients are individuals seeking thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care with a clear focus on symptom stabilization and functional improvement. I am best positioned to serve adults and young adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, mood instability, and life-transition stressors who are open to exploring medication as part of their treatment plan. I work especially well with clients who value collaboration and want to actively participate in their care. Whether you are new to psychiatric treatment or have tried medications in the past without the desired results, I take a careful, individualized approach to reassess, clarify diagnoses, and optimize treatment strategies. I am also well-suited for individuals from Asian and diverse cultural backgrounds, healthcare professionals, first responders, military communities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are seeking culturally sensitive and affirming care. If your goal is to reduce symptoms, improve focus and emotional regulation, enhance daily functioning, and build a sustainable treatment plan in partnership with a therapist, we would likely be a strong fit.
Psychoeducation
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and prescribing provider, psychoeducation is a foundational part of my approach to care. I believe that understanding your diagnosis, symptoms, and treatment options is essential to meaningful and lasting improvement. My role is not only to prescribe medication, but to ensure you fully understand how and why a treatment is recommended. I provide clear, evidence-based education about mental health conditions, how they affect the brain and body, and what to realistically expect from medication treatment—including benefits, potential side effects, timelines, and alternative options. I also explain how lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition, stress, and substance use can impact symptoms and medication effectiveness. Psychoeducation empowers you to actively participate in your care. When clients understand their condition and treatment plan, they are more confident, engaged, and better able to recognize progress or concerns early. While I do not provide formal psychotherapy, I use psychoeducation as a collaborative tool to support informed decision-making and to complement the work you may be doing with your therapist.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I integrate principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into medication management visits, while not providing full, structured psychotherapy. My role is to reinforce CBT-informed strategies that complement your medication plan and support symptom improvement between sessions with your therapist. In practice, this means helping you identify patterns between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors—especially when managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma-related symptoms. I often incorporate brief CBT-based interventions such as cognitive reframing, behavioral activation, problem-solving strategies, and identifying cognitive distortions. These tools enhance insight and strengthen your ability to manage symptoms alongside pharmacologic treatment. When clients are actively engaged in formal CBT with a therapist, I work collaboratively (with consent) to ensure alignment between medication management and therapeutic goals. Medication can help reduce symptom intensity, making it easier to engage in CBT work effectively. My approach is practical, structured, and goal-oriented—supporting both biological and behavioral pathways to recovery.
Motivational Interviewing
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and prescribing provider, I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support clients who may feel ambivalent about change—whether related to starting medication, adjusting treatment, reducing substance use, improving adherence, or implementing lifestyle modifications. My approach is collaborative and nonjudgmental. Rather than directing or persuading, I help you explore your own goals, values, and readiness for change. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and strengths-based dialogue, we clarify what matters most to you and how treatment fits into your broader life goals. In medication management, MI is especially helpful when discussing concerns about side effects, past negative experiences with medications, or hesitations about diagnosis. I respect autonomy and emphasize informed choice. When clients feel heard and empowered, they are more engaged and more likely to experience meaningful, sustainable progress.
