Hi! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from a Texas A&M affiliate Tarleton State University in 2016 and I received my PhD candidacy from Texas A&M in 2022. I received my eye desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) certification in 2017, I received my registered play therapist certification (RPT) in 2017, I received my Imago couples therapy certification in 2019 and I received my clinical trauma profession (CCTP) certification in 2023. I have been practicing for 9 years. I help teens, adults individuals, couples and family to become the best versions of themselves.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I establish a therapeutic rapport with my clients through active listening, empathy, patience, and being open minded. I build on this affinity by being genuine, nonjudgemental, trustworthy, present, and curious. This helps clients feel safe and respected, which is important because they may share their innermost thoughts and concerns with me. I clearly explain my assessment methods, diagnoses, and recommendations. I offer problem solving qualities, and I provide tools, informational sheets, and homework assignments when needed.
The clients I am best positioned to serve are people who may feel overwhelmed and anxious about their current situation and will be open to self-reflection and committed to growth. I want a client who says or asks whatever they feel like saying or asking, without holding back, or worrying about what's polite or “appropriate.”
This type of therapy focuses on a person's individual nature and potential for growth. It's based on the idea that people are inherently good, have the capacity for self-awareness and choice, and are capable of making the right choices for themselves. Humanistic therapy aims to help people develop a strong sense of self, explore their feelings, find meaning, and live fuller lives.
This is a type of psychotherapy that helps people develop skills and strategies to deal with problems in their daily lives. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that combines cognitive therapy and behavior therapy. The goal is to help patients change their thought patterns and behaviors to improve their mood and quality of life.
Early attachment experiences with our primary caregivers shape the adults that we become. The goals of attachment-based psychotherapy are to address the limiting effects of negative early attachment experiences and to strengthen the capacity for secure relationships and adaptive actions in the world.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps people adapt to challenges in their lives by increasing psychological flexibility. ACT is based on the idea that pain, grief, and other difficult emotions are inevitable parts of life, and that people should learn to accept them instead of trying to suppress them. ACT uses mindfulness and acceptance strategies to help people focus on the present moment, move past difficult emotions, and change their behavior to align with their values.
Imago relationship therapy (IRT) is a type of couples counseling that helps partners improve communication, reduce conflict, and find common ground. It's based on the idea that early relationships, especially with parents or caregivers, shape our personalities, attachment styles, and understanding of love. IRT aims to help partners heal from past experiences, develop empathy, and listen to each other's needs and concerns. The goal is to create a conscious, committed relationship where partners intentionally meet each other's unmet childhood needs.
