I’ve faced years of misdiagnosis and stigma around my mental health. As a mother, I expected compassion—but after disclosing my diagnosis and my partner’s background, the therapist abruptly ended our session and suggested hospitalization without hearing my full story. I was dismissed before I could even explain who I am. It was triggering and dehumanizing. I’m only sharing this review not to put down another woman but to offer insight and hopefully she learns from this experience.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify unhealthy thought patterns that leads to negative behaviors. I implement homework after each session and encourage journaling.
I am a devout Christian who utilizes a faith based approach in combination with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I believe an individual's spiritual beliefs can promote hope and motivation for positive change. I am open include prayer and scripture reading into the therapeutic journey.
