Warmest greetings to you! Is there a part of you that is hurting and needs a safe place to address it? Therapy is your time to be heard, speak your heart, find greater ease with yourself, and learn to work with what might get in your way. Our work together would be based on your needs, goals and pace. I will coach you to explore your inner world, using a kind and caring lens. My goal is to encourage you to discover greater self-acceptance on your way. I will work to help you increase your connection to yourself and others and to find the strength and peace of mind to meet challenges. With compassionate listening and focused questioning you may break patterns and begin to move forward. You can learn ways to manage depression and anxiety so that you may thrive. No matter what has transpired in our lives these events are opportunities for greater understanding, growth and wisdom.
In our first session, I'll explain how I work, and begin the intake assessment which include questions about you and your situation. One important goal is for us to figure out if we will be a good fit, and for you to ask any questions you may have with attention on what may make you feel more comfortable.
I especially enjoy working with teens/young adults who are looking to find their place in world. Much of my work has focused on reaching for better thoughts, learning better ways of coping, and can include mindfulness, guided imagery and imagination and concrete skills. My number one skill, is compassion. I do not judge and feel that judgement is not effective. I accept you for who you are in this moment, at the same time knowing growth and resolution of old pain is possible for you.
I have worked with issues of trauma, depression, anxiety and adult children of alcoholics/dysfunctional families.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy uses eye movements, or dual attention stimulation, to decrease the “emotional charge” left from distressing experiences. Although I am an experienced therapist, I am newly trained in this modality.
