About me

“First time" seeking help? Feeling sad, shaky, irritable, stressed out? Constantly worrying? Do you feel the need to "work" on yourself? My name is Shawn Hackett. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 20 plus years of providing mental health services. I specialize in working with women as they struggle with anxiety, depression, life stress, self-esteem issues, and life transitions.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. I’ll ask about what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to get out of our work together. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. We’ll start to outline some initial goals and discuss next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I create a space where you can be yourself, explore challenges at your own pace, and feel heard and respected as we work toward meaningful change together. I tailor each session to your unique needs, blending insight, emotional support, and evidence-based strategies to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

In our sessions, I will guide you through DBT which is a structured approaches that is designed to help you manage intense emotions, cope with challenging situations, and improve relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help you develop coping skills for dealing with different problems. CBT focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

In Solution Focused Brief Therapy, the emphasis is in on what can be done to improve the situation, rather than focusing on past problems or difficulties. This technique helps clients shift their mindset from feeling stuck in the problem to actively seeking ways to create positive change in their lives.
