Hello, I’m Nicole McDuff, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pennsylvania. I have over a decade of experience in the mental health field and hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gannon University. I take a warm, relational, and deeply individualized approach to therapy. I believe that meaningful change happens not just by managing symptoms, but by understanding yourself more fully — your experiences, patterns, relationships, and the meaning you’ve made of your story. My goal is to create a steady, compassionate space where you feel genuinely heard and supported as we explore what’s bringing you to therapy.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure at first. In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and talking about what’s brought you here. I’ll ask questions to understand your experiences, concerns, and hopes for therapy. From there, we’ll begin identifying areas you’d like to explore more deeply and discuss what working together might look like. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start — we’ll make sense of it together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to help clients slow down and explore their inner world in a meaningful way. I naturally look for patterns, connections, and the deeper story beneath present concerns. Rather than rushing to fix or minimize distress, I create space for reflection, emotional processing, and understanding. Clients often share that they feel genuinely heard and understood in our work together. I value depth, authenticity, and allowing growth to unfold at a pace that feels safe and sustainable. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you experience real internal shifts — greater clarity, self-compassion, stronger boundaries, and a deeper sense of alignment with who you are.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work especially well with individuals who are thoughtful and open to exploring their inner world. Many of my clients are seeking more than quick symptom relief — they want to understand the “why” behind their thoughts, emotions, and relationship patterns. I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, attachment concerns, self-esteem challenges, ADHD, grief, and relationship difficulties. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, and you’re open to meaningful reflection and growth, we may be a good fit.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My work is strongly grounded in person-centered principles. I believe healing begins in a space where clients feel genuinely heard, respected, and accepted without judgment. I strive to create a steady, compassionate therapeutic relationship where you can explore your thoughts and emotions openly. I view each client as the expert on their own life and work collaboratively, honoring your pace and autonomy throughout the process.

Psychodynamic

My approach incorporates psychodynamic principles by exploring how past experiences, relationships, and early attachment patterns may be shaping current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I help clients identify recurring patterns and gain insight into unconscious processes that may influence their present struggles. By increasing self-awareness and understanding, clients are often able to experience more integrated and lasting change.

Existential

I integrate existential perspectives by helping clients explore meaning, purpose, identity, and personal values. Life transitions, loss, uncertainty, and questions about direction can feel overwhelming; together, we reflect on what feels authentic and significant in your life. I believe that developing insight into your own meaning-making can foster resilience and deeper fulfillment.

Attachment-based

My work is informed by attachment theory, recognizing that early relational experiences influence how we connect with others and view ourselves. I help clients explore patterns in relationships, emotional responses, and internal expectations that may have developed over time. Through understanding these patterns, clients can begin to build more secure and fulfilling connections.

Trauma Informed Care

I approach therapy through a trauma-informed lens, understanding that past experiences can significantly impact emotional regulation, relationships, and self-perception. I prioritize safety, pacing, and emotional containment, ensuring that deeper exploration happens in a way that feels manageable and supportive. My goal is to help clients process experiences while strengthening internal stability.

I rambled on so much, but first session allows her to get an insight of myself. As of now, im not expecting immediate results, and hopefully be able to dig deeper for a resolution after a few more sessions. So far so good.
