About me

Hi, my name is Lydia Piutau, and I’m a therapist here at Grow Therapy. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your experiences. I use a combination of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships, while building practical coping and communication skills. I also provide family and grief counseling as part of my practice to support healing and connection at all levels. Ultimately, my role is to walk alongside you in your journey toward greater understanding, balance, and emotional well-being.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will take time to get to know one another and discuss what brings you to therapy. We’ll explore your current concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. I will also review confidentiality, discuss how sessions are structured, and answer any questions you may have about therapy. Together, we will begin identifying patterns, strengths, and areas for growth to help guide our work moving forward. This session is designed to be collaborative and supportive, allowing you to share at your own pace as we start building a foundation of trust and understanding.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes me unique as a therapist is my down-to-earth approach and my commitment to truly listening to my clients on a personal level. I strive to create a space where you feel heard, valued, and supported every time we meet. I never end a session without checking in to ensure you feel emotionally grounded and safe, what I like to call “closing the book for today.” My goal is for each session to leave you feeling understood, cared for, and one step closer to healing and growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve individuals, couples, and families who are seeking a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment to create meaningful change in their lives. I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My approach is compassionate and goal-oriented, helping clients identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck and develop healthier ways to think, feel, and connect with others.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am able to incorporate gospel-based principles into therapeutic sessions upon client request, while maintaining a clinically grounded and client-centered approach

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a therapist, I utilize aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients increase awareness of negative or distorted thinking patterns, develop healthier coping and problem-solving skills, reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other emotional disorders, and improve overall daily functioning and well-being.

Couples Counseling

In couples counseling, I focus on helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional connection. Using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), sessions are designed to identify unhelpful interaction patterns, increase mutual understanding, and develop effective conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills. The goal is to promote healthier relationship dynamics, enhance emotional intimacy, and support long-term relationship satisfaction and stability.

Grief Therapy

As a therapist, I provide grief therapy to support individuals and families in processing loss, adjusting to life changes, and finding meaning after bereavement. My approach focuses on creating a compassionate and safe environment where clients can explore emotions related to grief, develop healthy coping strategies, and gradually rebuild a sense of hope and purpose. Interventions may include aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative processing, and mindfulness to promote emotional healing and resilience.

Family Therapy

As a therapist, I incorporate family therapy techniques to strengthen communication, improve problem-solving, and promote healthy relational patterns within the family system. Sessions focus on identifying roles, boundaries, and interaction dynamics that contribute to conflict or disconnection. Through guided discussion, emotional processing, and collaborative goal setting, families work toward increased understanding, cohesion, and resilience.
