I am an eclectic therapist who uses methods from various disciplines to provide unique treatment for each client. I have worked in various environments including group homes, outpatient therapy offices, school counseling in both public and parochial schools. This mix of experience has given me a great deal of experience working with individuals, families, children and those with various difficulties.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session we will go over any forms they have completed and provide time for the client to ask any questions regarding my background/experience. I will gather information about the individual's current functioning, what has brought them to therapy and other relevant information.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel that my varied experience is a great strength in my being a successful provider. I have an open mind which I believe is paramount trait when working with individuals. The goal of therapy is for the individual to live their life the best way THEY see fit and not as I believe they should be living.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I was trained in this method in grad school and also through personal trainings. I use this method of counseling along with other types of therapy to fit the needs of the client. Parts of Behaviorism, ACT therapy, and others may be used in conjuction with CBT. I have found this eleclectic approach to work well with many types of issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and interpersonal conflict.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT can be beneficial for those clients who are familiar with practices of meditation. While you do not have to be a master of meditating to benefit from this approach, understanding that our thoughts are connected to our feelings and that our minds can experience these feelings and learn to use those experiences to gain insight into our behavior.
