About me

Hi, I'm Alizae! I'm a therapist with a creative heart and a deep belief in the healing power of connection, expression, and authenticity. With a background in both art therapy and counseling, I bring a creative and compassionate approach to therapy that recognizes healing is not one-size-fits-all. I’ve had the privilege of working with youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, individuals navigating addiction and recovery, people healing from trauma, and those exploring identity, culture, and belonging within BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. These experiences have shaped my commitment to providing therapy that is inclusive, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive. Whether we use talk therapy, creative expression, or mindfulness-based tools, my goal is to create a safe and affirming space where you can be your full self. I believe therapy should be collaborative, nonjudgmental, and rooted in your strengths, including the ones you may not have discovered yet. I would be honored to support you as we explore what healing looks like for you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will take time to get to know each other and create a safe, comfortable space for you. I will ask about your background, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve. This is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share any concerns you have about the process. Together, we will begin to explore your strengths and challenges and start to build a plan that fits your unique needs and goals. My goal is to make sure you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very beginning.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my creativity, which allows me to approach therapy in unique and flexible ways that suit each individual. I am deeply compassionate and patient, creating a warm and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings. My diverse experience working with a variety of populations has given me a broad perspective and cultural sensitivity. I am committed to meeting clients exactly where they are and supporting their growth with respect and empathy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to explore their story with openness and curiosity. Whether you are navigating challenges related to identity, trauma, addiction, or developmental disabilities, or simply seeking a supportive space to express yourself, I am here to walk alongside you. If you value a creative, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach and want a therapist who honors your unique experiences and strengths, you will feel at home in my work. Together we will build a partnership grounded in respect, safety, and empowerment as you move toward healing and growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, or low self-esteem. Together, we explore how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected, and build practical tools to manage stress and create more balanced perspectives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

When emotions feel overwhelming or relationships are challenging, I incorporate DBT skills like mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. These tools can help you feel more grounded, in control, and empowered to navigate difficult moments with greater confidence.

Gender-affirming therapy

I provide a supportive, affirming space for clients exploring their gender identity or navigating the challenges of being transgender, nonbinary, or gender diverse. My approach is grounded in respect, validation, and advocacy. I’m here to support you in being your authentic self, whether that means exploring identity, managing dysphoria, coming out, or accessing gender-affirming care.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I honor and respect the unique cultural identities, values, and experiences that shape who you are. In our work together, I strive to create a space where your background is understood, not overlooked. Whether you're navigating cultural stress, intergenerational dynamics, racism, or identity-related challenges, I approach therapy with humility, openness, and a commitment to affirming your lived experience.

Motivational Interviewing

If you're feeling stuck or uncertain about making a change, I use Motivational Interviewing to help you explore your goals without pressure or judgment. This approach focuses on your values, strengths, and inner wisdom, helping you build motivation and confidence to move forward at your own pace.
