Hello, my name is Luke. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. I have been practicing therapy for over 3 years now and have attained significant experience in areas pertaining to depression, anxiety, and much more. My primary approaches to therapy pertaining to cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy. I believe that the therapeutic alliance of goals, tasks, and bonds is crucial to the outcome of anyone I work with. My approach emphasizes empathy, compassion, and insight to help my clients better understand the root of their problems as well as how to challenge themselves.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we would cover the basics of what therapy would entail, especially if you are unfamiliar with the process. We would discuss the general issue at hand as well as getting an understanding of any other outlying circumstances. I make sure that the first session is welcoming and comforting as I understand that I would be a new face for anyone I meet, of course.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths lie in my patience as well as my skills to get my clients engaged in more thoughtful conversations. I found that I can be skilled in finding the niches that pique a client’s interest and how to build a flourishing relationship.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best to work with those struggling with transition of life issues, difficulties dealing with change, and just wanting a better understanding of themselves on a deeper level. I find that those who come to therapy with a curious and open mind tend to thrive the most in the process.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of my core approaches to therapy from the day I started training. In my experience with this approach, I have been able to guide many through issues pertaining to recurrent bad habits, depression, and anxiety.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have been able to utilize DBT for various purposes from treating Borderline Personality Disorder to psycho education on emotional intelligence for those seeking emotional regulation and understanding.

Motivational Interviewing

I have been given formal training in MI where I have been able to help motivate individuals to pursue goals in therapy. The process of change is often intimidating, but Motivational Interviewing helps to redirect your perspective to being more proactive.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Therapy has been my foundation to the therapist I am today. I believe that it is essential to have a rooted understanding of where the issue stems from. Many individuals come to therapy looking for insight in some form and this approach is a great way of “connecting the dots” as I say.
