My name is Chrys Dawkins and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based on the Big Island of Hawaii and working with clients in both Hawaii and Georgia. I received my MSW from Boston University and I have been practicing for 5 years. I work primarily with adults, including young adults. My areas of specialization include stress management, women's issues, boundary setting, parenting issues, life transitions.
During our first session, we will discuss your needs and how my therapeutic approach can support you. We will conduct a detailed assessment of your needs, set goals of therapy, and develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual situation. You can expect this to be a time of building an initial connection and defining how we will work together.
My strength lies in my ability to join with my clients through an informal and direct, yet warm and judgement free communication style. I most frequently use a strengths-based approach combined with a person-centered approach to help clients identify and harness their strengths and join with clients to gain an understanding of their reality as we work together to build a way forward.
I enjoy working young adults who are having difficulty navigating life's transitions. My therapeutic style and approach a good fit for those who may be feeling stuck or have become burdened and overwhelmed from trying to navigate life on their own. I like to help guide clients in a non-directive way, find their often forgotten strengths, and improve their overall well-being.
Chrys Dawkins offers therapy covered by Medicaid - Peach State Health Plan and Peach State Health Plan (Managed Medicaid) in Georgia.
This treatment method is practical and action-oriented; helping people take responsibilities for their own actions, and make choices that lead to positive change in their lives. We work collaboratively to explore your current reality, understand the consequences of your actions, and identify behaviors or choices that are not meeting your needs.
Many therapy modalities focus on the problem, however solution focused brief therapy turns the focus on finding solutions to problems rather than dwelling on the problems themselves. It is a goal-oriented and time limited approach that helps individuals identify and utilize their strengths and resources to create positive change in their lives.
I value diversity and culture, and I make it both a part of my therapy practice and personal life to recognize and respect people's cultural backgrounds, beliefs, and values. I understand that culture plays a significant role in shaping an individual's identity, experiences, and worldview. I strive to create a safe and inclusive therapeutic environment where clients feel understood, validated, and respected.
