My name is Kiersten, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Connecticut. I graduated with my Masters in 2016 from Fordham University and have been practicing for 4 years. I treat clients from ages 18 and up. I have experience treating clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma and other mood disorders. I believe that there is always hope in any situation and that we can tailor any treatment to meet your needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session can be the hardest as we'll start with a brief introduction to each other while beginning to explore the challenges you are facing. I understand that it can be scary to open up to someone new and I want to remind you that this is a relationship so we will take time to get to know each other in our future sessions while creating a plan that fits your needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have an empathetic approach to clients and I believe in meeting you where you are at in identifying the strengths you have and developing an actionable plan to face your challenges. We are in this together to improve your life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using Cognitive Behavior Therapy since I began practicing in 2021. I use CBT to help address a variety of concerns from depression to anxiety, anger and life stressors. We will use CBT to identify, challenge, and change maladaptive thoughts. We'll develop coping skills together that will then become habit to change negative thought patterns and alleviate your concerns.

Christian Counseling

As a non-denominational Christian I have been raised in walking a life with GOD while being understanding and welcoming to those of differing beliefs. I believe in the grounding ability of prayer and the changes He can bring to one's life when a person is open to receiving them. I have a good wealth of knowledge of the word and in helping others in seeking guidance in this area.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I utilize Acceptance and commitment therapy with clients who are avoiding or denying their emotions. We will work together to accept these feelings as a result of the situation you are going through and then committing to change. We will face committing to change together regardless of the challenge.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment with a variety of concerns from day to day stressors, relationship or family dynamics, and addictions. Together we will identify the problem and what you would like to change. Then we will make a plan to take actionable steps towards change while highlighting the inherent skills you already have that will help you reach your goals.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma Informed Care has been useful in treating my clients who have unfortunately experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, physical violence and grief, resulting in PTSD and other mood disorders. Together we will begin to process these events in a safe environment while challenging the negative thoughts including suicidal ideation and self harm. We will challenge the negative thoughts of guilt and grief while creating healthier and happier thought patterns to combat triggering thoughts in the future.
