(she/her)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I maintain my licensure to practice as a therapist in Pennsylvania & Washington, DC. I have worked in the mental health field for 18 years in a variety of settings including prisons, psychiatric units, hospitals and outpatient clinics. My varied experiences have given me a chance to see all different types of life issues and help people fix the parts of their lives that are in disarray or simply not working as smoothly as preferred. I treat each client as an individual and assess each life experience only once I understand the facts that bring you to my practice. I consider myself a humanist by nature and affirm our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good. That said, change is hard and is often as simple as pairing yourself up with the right helper along the way. Kindness to yourself goes a long way. I am flexible with my clients and follow their lead. I also welcome any feedback about how my approach is helpful or not. I want to make sure that I am well-aware of your feelings regarding our work together. My goal is to help you embrace and recognize your strengths, while finding healthy ways to change or cope with the parts of your life that aren't working as well as you'd like. I'm a firm believer in compassion, empathy and the power of a solid therapeutic relationship. We are a team – but you are the expert of your own life experience. It’s my job to learn how to best help you. I live in Philadelphia, PA with my wife and two children.
In your first therapy session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and setting a comfortable foundation for our work together. This initial conversation will be centered around understanding what brings you to therapy—whether it’s a specific issue, a general feeling of being stuck, or a desire for personal growth. We’ll also start to explore important aspects of your past, including significant relationships and experiences that may have shaped who you are today, both positively and negatively. This is a time for you to share as much or as little as you feel ready to, in a space that is open, confidential, and free from judgment. My goal is to listen, learn about your unique story, and begin identifying how we can work together to support your goals for therapy
As a therapist, I am committed to creating a space where you feel heard, respected, and truly understood. I’m a great listener, which means I’m here to really take in what you share without judgment or preconceived ideas. My open-mindedness helps me approach each client’s story as unique, seeing things from your perspective and embracing all the complexities that make up who you are. I understand that life can be challenging and that some stories are painful and difficult to tell, but I’m here to walk through those hard moments with you. My commitment is to stand by you, even through the most challenging parts of your journey, and to support you in moving toward a place of greater self-understanding and growth.
My ideal therapy client is someone who approaches the process with openness and honesty, ready to share their authentic self and to explore both strengths and challenges. They recognize the importance of collaboration, viewing therapy as a shared journey where we work together to set meaningful goals and overcome obstacles. This client understands that meaningful change takes time, and they are patient and compassionate with themselves as they work toward lasting growth. Motivated to make positive shifts in their life, they are committed to personal development, knowing that the effort they put into therapy will unfold gradually, creating lasting transformation.
Grief Therapy
I employ grief therapy to support clients as they navigate the complex emotions and challenges that arise from loss, whether from the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or other significant life changes. This approach helps clients process, understand, and integrate their grief into their lives in a healthy way.
Strength-Based
I have a deep-rooted experience with strength-based therapy, an approach that emphasizes clients' existing strengths, talents, and resilience as foundational tools for growth and recovery. Over the years, I have seen firsthand how empowering clients to recognize and leverage their strengths fosters a sense of agency, self-worth, and optimism. My training and experience in this area have allowed me to help clients reconnect with their own capacities and overcome challenges in a meaningful, sustainable way.
Gender-affirming therapy
I have dedicated a significant part of my professional journey to understanding the unique challenges faced by transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals. Over time, I have actively pursued advanced training and continued education to deepen my knowledge of gender-affirming practices and stay updated with evolving best practices. This experience has given me the skills to provide compassionate and informed care that respects each individual’s gender identity and lived experiences. I am aware of the complexities of gender dysphoria and the many intersecting factors that shape one’s gender identity, including cultural, familial, and societal influences. My work with diverse gender identities has helped me recognize the importance of providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their gender identity without fear or discomfort.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma-informed therapy is an integral approach I use to create a safe, empathetic, and empowering environment for clients who have experienced trauma. It's based on understanding trauma and its impact; creating a safe environment; building trust and empowering clients; focusing on strengths and resilience; having cultural sensitivity and inclusivity; and, setting collaborative goal setting and flexibility.
Couples Counseling
My approach to couples counseling is built upon a foundation of compassion, insight, and proven techniques that aim to help couples navigate challenges and strengthen their relationships. In my practice, I use a holistic approach, working not only on the specific issues that bring couples to therapy but also on the broader patterns and dynamics that underlie these issues.

Amy was a terrific help during the limited time I was able to see them. Unfortunately timing didn't work out so I couldn't continue, but I would have loved to!
