Hi there, I'm Lauren! I have been a social worker for the last 15 years and a practicing therapist for the last 11 years. I graduated from Florida State University with a master's degree in social work. I have worked with people from all walks of life during my career: geriatrics, coping with aging parents, receiving new diagnosis, complex care and hospice care to name a few. I love to help people with anxiety and depression. I suffered from both of these as an adolescent and working with a therapist changed my life. I know what it feels like to not be able to move, to feel like you are suffocating or to just want the racing thoughts to stop. I also know what it feels like to breathe, take a step forward and slow down the racing thoughts. I'm here to help my client's live the life they deserve to live.
In our first session together, we will explore what is important to YOU as the client. We will go through what your struggles are and what strengths you currently have to help you towards accomplishing your goals.
My biggest strength as a therapist is my ability to listen with an open mind. Therapy is not a one size fits all and sometimes the best thing you can do as a therapist is just pause and listen.
I love to use mindfulness with my clients. It helps them center themselves and focus on the present moment versus worrying about the future.
CBT has been so effective in decreasing anxious symptoms in my clients. Most recently I had a client tell me how she wished she had known these tools years ago to help with her anxiety.
