(she/her)
My name is Oneida Alvarado, I am a licensed therapist in California with over 10 years in mental health. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. I have experience in helping teen/young adult clients with stress and anxiety, depression or coping with addictions, trauma, life stressors and abuse. I understand that working can come with its own unique set of challenges along with dealing with daily stressors, and I want you to know that I am here to support you through whatever you may be experiencing. Whether it be work-related stress, personal relationship issues, or something else entirely, I am committed to helping you find the tools and resources you need to work through these challenges and achieve your goals. I look forward to getting to know you and working together toward your personal growth and well-being.
In our first session together, We'll start with brief introduction, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow up sessions.
One of my biggest strengths in therapy is utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support you in your journey. CBT is a widely recognized and effective therapeutic approach that can help you develop new perspectives, overcome challenges, and make positive changes in your life. CBT is also highly collaborative, as you and the therapist work closely to set goals and create an action plan. CBT takes the active approach, engaging in discussion, exercises and homework assignments that are designed to help you implement positive changes in your life.
I love working with clients who are eager to improve, but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about their careers.

Providing encouragement: Therapists show that they care for clients by listening and showing empathy.
The therapist accepts the client completely, without judgment or conditions of worth. This helps the client feel safe and valued. The therapist believes that the client has the capacity for self-healing and personal growth.
The therapist helps clients integrate mindfulness into daily life. Focus on what is happening right now rather than ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. Accept thoughts and feelings as they are, without labeling them as “good” or “bad.”
Motivational therapy helps clients find their own reasons and motivation to change, rather than being told what to do. Use reflective listening to show understanding and acceptance of the client’s perspective.
