LMHC, 7 years of experience
Hello! I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from Puerto Rico based in Orlando, Florida, who blends warmth with structure to help you make real, measurable progress. I primarily work with Hispanic families, supporting parents, partners, and teens to untangle intergenerational patterns, navigate acculturation stressors, strengthen communication, and rebuild secure attachment while honoring culture, values, and family bonds. My style is active and evidence-based: expect a mix of DBT and solution-focused tools for quick wins, emotionally focused and attachment-informed work to get to the root, motivational interviewing to strengthen follow-through, and mindfulness skills to steady your nervous system. The clients often tell me they appreciate that I validate deep feelings without losing sight of action, and that I’m direct while still being kind. I bring a longstanding passion for psychology and a strong sense of fairness; that shows up as advocacy for your needs, thoughtful attention to context and culture, and a steady focus on rebuilding self-trust. I especially enjoy working with women, helping professionals, and busy parents who want both a safe space and a clear plan. When you’re ready, you can book a session directly from this profile.
In our first session, we'll explore your background and therapy expectations to create a treatment plan with adequate and realistic therapy goals. This will help us be more objective during therapy and increase the probability of benefits. Also, I'll answer any questions you have. If, for some reason, I'm not the right fit or you are looking for something different than what I provide, I'm happy to help you work through the process of finding someone who is the perfect fit for you.
I utilize Positive Psychology and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approaches with mindfulness training techniques. Positive psychology is a strengths-based approach that assists individuals and families in identifying and developing their strengths and abilities. Mindfulness training focuses on orienting attention purposefully to the present moment, observing, acting, and describing with awareness.
My counseling style is laid-back. I like to approach current and past experiences with openness and acceptance non-judgmentally, offering my clients a more balanced, holistic, and hopeful path. Also, I love working with a population typically viewed through a deficit lens. I strongly believe that mental health also involves nurturing virtues, justice, and character strengths like open-mindedness, authenticity, kindness, and self-regulation. While my primary language is Spanish, I'm also fluent in English, ensuring effective communication with a diverse clientele.
I love working with Hispanic-Latinx individuals and families by teaching them to break historical/generational trauma, emotional regulation, healthy boundaries, and assertive communication skills. I also love working with teens and adults struggling with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), assisting them in feeling able to be themselves and understanding the unique benefits and strengths that have been scientifically proven to accompany ADHD. However, if you’re in immediate crisis, need medication-only care, formal evaluations, or are outside Florida, I’m not the right fit—but I’m happy to help you find the right resource. My practice works best for clients ready for a collaborative, structured approach that honors culture, family, and action between sessions.

Lorieann has always been extremely welcoming, open-minded, sweet, and authentic. She will not allow a topic or issue to go undiscussed or unresolved. She is knowledgeable and doesn't just tell you what you want to hear, she tells you want you NEED to hear.

My partner and I came to Lorieann in a moment of deep disconnection. She has been helping us with her wisdom, and grounded presence, and holds space for both of us to be seen and heard, without judgement. What’s been especially powerful is how she integrates cultural and intergenerational trauma into her work. We are starting to heal not just as a couple, but as individuals, too. She is helping us transform not just our relationship, but ourselves. We are deeply, deeply grateful!
