LPC, 5 years of experience
Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I received my Bachelors and Masters from Radford University, and have been practicing for 5 years. I help teens and adults work through depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and anger management. I have worked with clients of differing gender identities, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. My goal is to make you feel heard and accepted in every session.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. This will be your opportunity to get to know me and ask questions!
I have worked with children, teens, and adults in the past 5 years. One of my greatest strengths, is to provide a non-judgmental environment for you to feel comfortable talking about the difficult things. Another strength is my genuine compassion and desire to help others. My final strength, is a collaborative approach to make YOU the focus of the treatment and get your feedback on what works best for you.
I love working with teens, young adults, and middle adults. I work with a wide array of mental illnesses and life circumstances. I love to help people find their direction in life as well as help with the transition to adulthood. I will meet you where you are mentally, and work to help you foster growth at your own pace. Life is complicated, and I am here to help make it a little less complicated.
Solution-focused practice concentrates on helping people move towards the future that they want and to learn what can be done differently by using their existing skills, strategies and ideas – rather than focusing on the problem.
I will aim to teach people that it is possible to have control over your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. CBT helps you to challenge and overcome automatic beliefs, and use practical strategies to change or modify your behavior.
I will encourage the client to focus on, understand and feel compassion to themself during negative thought processes, with a strong focus on nurturing compassion within the self.
I will provide treatment that helps a person work through a greater than normal reaction to a loss, such as the death of a loved one.
I will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve greater independence.

I booked Sarah out of a desperation to speak to someone during an urgent moment in my life, . Talking with her grounded me and allowed me to step into the reality of the situation with more intention and the kind of presence it required of me. She is a highly skilled listener and the feedback and suggestions she provides are on the nose. I look forward to our conversations now and feel fortunate to have her as my mentor, hopefully for a good while!

Very genuine and wants to see you succeed in life. She is well versed in a lot of topics and will give you advice in almost anything you can think of. My dad recently passed and she helped me turn my life around, she's amazing!

Before I met Sarah, I often struggled to find the energy to attend my therapy sessions. Now, our weekly appointments are my favorite part of the week. I feel cared for and truly listened to, and my mental health has improved immensely.
