Welcome, and congratulations for taking the first step towards a happier you. My practice is rooted in the principles of empathy, respect, and collaboration. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health care, recognizing the importance of treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. In 25+ years of practice, I have worn many hats and strive to incorporate any or all of these to work with you in creating a personalized treatment plan to address your goals. As an integrative medicine practitioner, I believe therapy and a healthy lifestyle are the first steps to a better you, with use of medications when needed to help reduce symptomatology and aid in moving forward. **I do not write benzodiazepines.**

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings as you move through interpersonal conflicts grief, trauma, or are just looking for guidance to be your own best self. In our first session together we will discuss what brings you here today and what your expectations might be to see if we are a good fit. I will ask many questions about your history, current concerns, and goals for treatment. I am interested in helping you be successful, whatever that means to you; your goals are my goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked with clients across the lifespan in a variety of settings, I have learned to be flexible and non-judgmental, as no two of us are alike. My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to listen, to empathize and to treat you with compassion for the unique person that you are. As an NP, decades ago I felt the shift from whole patient care to simply writing prescriptions all day. I became interested in alternatives for both physical and mental health. Although it was over 20 years ago, my IMD degree included study in complementary domains to include mind-body therapies, biology-based therapies, energy therapies, homeopathy, Iridology, Reiki, Ayurveda, nutrition, functional medicine, & medical massage. In addition to an IMD, PhD, I also hold a MSW in Clinical Social Work from Simmons College, and I am board certified as a Family NP, Pediatric NP, and Psych NP. CSTS Certification: Eating Disorders, Addictive Eating, Body Shame; ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP); Mental Health & Nutrition.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with clients age 8-68, as the challenges we face as a youth often come back to haunt us as an adult. I look forward to working with those who might feel stuck and overwhelmed, but are motivated to change and work towards a more positive life. I've found that individuals who simply want a medication to help get through the day are not often successful in achieving optimal mental health and hope to offer you more than just a medication.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Useful to identify personal values and use this information to inform behaviors and work through problems by developing emotional flexibility and learning to live in the present.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a goal-oriented therapy used to help people learn to understand how their thoughts affect their emotions & behaviors. Identify core beliefs and unlearn negative thoughts and behaviors as you change your perspective and adopt a positive way of thinking and overall well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Adapted from CBT for persons who experience emotions very intensely, such as those with borderline traits and other issues that result from unhealthy efforts to control these intense and/or negative emotions. DBT helps you learn healthier ways to cope with everyday life and stress.

Integrative

A holistic and individualized approach that considers a person's mental, physical, and emotional health. The goal of treatment is to identify helpful techniques and adapt them to the specific needs of the individual.

Narrative

Be an expert in your own life by putting together a narrative to help find your voice and explore life events and the meanings placed on these experiences. Narrative therapy can help heal and move past a problematic story as well as allowing for a change in the narrative.
