I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida with five years of professional experience. I have experience in assisting the client in managing their stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, helping them to increase their self-esteem, their confidence and their motivation. In addition, I am well-versed in assisting clients with depression. I believe that you are the writer of your story which means you have the power to create your desired outcome, and you have what it takes to overcome the challenges and obstacles that can keep you from reaching your goals and dreams. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you in your journey. I look forward to working with you!
In the first session with me, clients can expect to engage in an open and supportive conversation where we'll explore their concerns and goals for therapy. I'll explain my approach, including how I use the ACT method, and we'll work together to identify key areas to focus on. This session is also an opportunity for us to begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship, setting the foundation for our work together.
The areas that are my biggest strengths are depression, anxiety, and trauma. From my experience in the previously stated areas, I have found mindfulness therapy to be very helpful. The specific skills in mindfulness therapy include activities such as meditation, yoga, and different types of exercises. I believe that real change begins once we become aware of our behaviors, good or bad. Awareness is a big factor toward change and we can't be aware of our behaviors if we are not mindful of our thoughts, feelings, and actions.
My ideal clients are individuals who are open to self-exploration and committed to personal growth, even when the process is challenging. They may be navigating life transitions, managing stress, or seeking deeper meaning and alignment with their values. These clients are willing to engage in the therapeutic process with curiosity and honesty, ready to confront their thoughts and emotions with courage. They appreciate a collaborative, compassionate approach and are motivated to develop the skills needed for lasting change. Ultimately, they are invested in creating a more fulfilling and authentic life.

In my therapy practice, I use the ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) method to help clients accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, encouraging them to stay present in the moment. I appreciated that Vernise took a warm and clinical approach. She left me with a goal for the week to focus on for the next session and asked questions to gain a better understanding. Overall a very positive first session.

Vernise is a woman who is easy to talk to she makes you feel so comfortable right away. I have zero problems with getting emotional in front of her or saying exactly what's on my mind mind, she listens, helps me process my feelings and is very good at explaining why those feelings may have developed. she makes my therapy something I look forward to doing. its never something I dread doing like going to the doctors or dentist talking to her is something I look forward to each week.

Very easy to talk to. Very easy to understand, made me comfortable right after we started. I was nervous as I’ve never had therapy. She made me feel at ease and reassured me that I’m in the right place to talk about the issues I have in my past and present life. Can’t wait for my next session! Being able to talk to someone is exactly what I need right now I’m happy I found this site and happy I found Vernise! 😌
