New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals find clarity, healing, and balance in their lives. I work primarily with adults and older adults navigating depression, anxiety, and grief, providing support as they rediscover hope and purpose. I am especially passionate about serving those in helping and leadership roles, such as clergy, ministry leaders, veterans, and caregivers, who often carry the weight of others while neglecting their own well-being. My approach blends compassion with evidence-based practices to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for growth and self-discovery. Through our work together, clients gain insight, strengthen coping skills, and build the confidence to create lasting positive change in their lives.
In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where they can begin sharing their story at their own pace. We’ll start by discussing what brought them to counseling, their goals, and what they hope to gain from our work together. I’ll also gather some background information to better understand their experiences and challenges. Most importantly, clients can expect to feel heard, supported, and respected as we begin building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and collaboration.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the balance I create between compassion and practicality. I combine evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy with genuine empathy and faith-informed understanding. My sessions are both reflective and action-oriented, helping clients feel deeply heard while also learning concrete tools to manage their emotions and make meaningful changes. I focus on creating a safe, authentic space where clients can be vulnerable, explore their struggles without judgment, and rediscover strength, purpose, and peace in their lives.
My ideal client is an adult or older adult who gives so much to others but often forgets to care for themselves. They may be a ministry leader, veteran, caregiver, or helping professional who feels overwhelmed, burned out, or weighed down by anxiety, depression, or grief. They’re compassionate, high-functioning, and driven—but deep down, they’re tired of carrying so much alone. My ideal client values authenticity, faith, and personal growth and is ready to do the inner work to find balance, peace, and renewed purpose in their life.
In my practice, I naturally gravitate toward Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it aligns with how I view growth and change. I enjoy helping clients recognize how their thoughts shape their emotions and behaviors, and I find it rewarding to watch them gain confidence as they learn to challenge negative thinking patterns. I often use CBT techniques like thought records, reframing, and behavioral activation to make therapy both practical and empowering. For me, CBT isn’t just a set of techniques, it’s a collaborative process that helps clients see that change is possible, one thought at a time.
Person-Centered Therapy is at the heart of how I connect with clients. I create a warm, nonjudgmental space where they feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. I believe that genuine empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard allow clients to tap into their own capacity for growth and healing. In my sessions, I use a person-centered approach to build trust and collaboration, empowering clients to lead their own journey toward self-understanding and change.
