LCSW, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
Let me introduce myself, My name is Crystal and I am a first generation bilingual Latinx therapist. I currently hold a license in Clinical Social Work. I have a B.A in Biological Psychology with a Minor in Communications (Cal State San Bernardino), and a Master's degree in Social Work (USC). I have worked in various mental health settings, from working in a mental health urgent care where I worked with many who were in crisis, to working at a residential treatment center where individuals had severe mental illness, worked in a substance abuse clinic running groups, worked for a crisis hotline, and in private practice as a therapist. I feel that my experience in mental health has helped me to become a well-rounded and compassionate therapist overall. I am a trauma informed therapist who allows openness, and a safe space for my clients to heal. My purpose is to help my clients identify and work through their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to uncover their true authentic selves. I am always keeping up with the latest mental health research to educate my client's because I have their best interest at heart.
Our first session will include introductions, review of policies and procedures, and I will answer any questions you may have. I will also engage you in collaborating on therapy goals.
I genuinely enjoy making connections with people and helping others navigate their mental health is truly rewarding. I make space for healing and processing of emotions and trauma. I guide my clients in getting to the root of their traumas. I also ask that my clients collaborate in sessions and advocate for themselves for them to get the most out of therapy. I work with my clients to get them excited about their therapy journey.
The types of clients that I see in private practice include people who are open minded, creative, and are willing to learn. My clients want to take control of their lives but don’t necessarily know where to start. My clients struggle with irrational beliefs about themselves and the world we live in. They have allowed their perceptions to define who they are, and I help them gain a different perspective which allows them to be set free from their own traumas.
I am a true believer of educating my clients for them to understand the “why”? when it comes to gaining an understanding about their mental health and the mind/body connection.
I utilize dialectical behavioral therapy with my clients who are struggling with various mental health issues for them to gain clarity and awareness of their behaviors and triggers.
I utilize acceptance, and commitment therapy (ACT) to assist my clients in living meaningful lives and learning how to navigate their trauma and stressors through a healthier perspective.
I utilize CBT to assist my clients in identifying unhealthy thought processes that are keeping them from being the best version of themselves.
I utilize internal family systems with my clients for them to fully understand themselves, including the parts of themselves that are burdened and I help my clients to unburden these parts of themselves so they can live healthy lives and feel in control.
