New to Grow
Hi! I'm so glad that you are here! My name is Kayla, and I'm a licensed therapist in both Ohio and California. I graduated with my Masters in Social Work from Florida State University in 2021, and, prior to my work in private practice, I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including foster care, life coaching, school counseling, and as a medical social worker for a children's hospital. I have always been a passionate advocate of therapy and am so grateful for the opportunity to be apart of someone's healing journey. When I'm not working, I love being outside, exercising, traveling, and being a mom.
Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. We'll discuss your background and what brings you to therapy. There's no pressure to share everything all at once, we will continue to build our work together over time at a pace that is comfortable for you. It's completely normal to feel nervous about your first appointment. I'm here to guide you through each step of the way as we begin this journey together.
I know how overwhelming, disorienting, and transformative major seasons of change can be, and I also know how powerful it is to have support along the way. I value my ability to connect with each of my clients through empathy, understanding, and practical guidance. It is very important to me that each of my clients feels safe and seen when we are working together in the therapeutic space and I always tailor my approach to the individual client's story to achieve that outcome. My goal is to communicate in a way that is warm and casual while giving you that safe space. You can expect me to bring a calm and steady presence as we work through challenges at a pace that feels right for you.
I primarily work with women who are navigating significant life transitions. That might look like becoming a mother, shifting careers, relationships, living environments, or anything else that has caused you to feel that you lost your identity. I developed a passion for this area of specialization when I went through my own pregnancy and postpartum experience. Support is so important during this delicate and life altering time, and through any other experience that you find yourself feeling lost in. Whatever you are holding, you don't have to carry it on your own. Together, we'll explore your experiences with compassion and curiosity and help you reconnect with your inner strength, clarity, and sense of self.
I love to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help you notice unhelpful thoughts, understand how they affect your emotions and actions, and learn practical strategies to create lasting change.
I like to use Cognitive Processing Therapy because it is a great way to help you work through the impact of trauma by identifying and shifting unhelpful beliefs, so you can move forward with a renewed sense of safety, trust, and self-worth.
I like to use the technique of Motivational Interviewing as a way to help you explore your own reasons for change, build confidence in your ability to reach your goals, and take steps forward at a pace that feels right for you.
I use an attachment-based approach to help you understand how early relationships shape the way you connect with others today, and to build healthier, more secure patterns in your current relationships.
I use interpersonal therapy to help you improve your relationships, navigate through life transitions, and strengthen the way you connect and communicate with others.
