New to Grow
Hello. I am a master's level licensed mental health counselor with diagnostic privilege in the state of New York who has several years clinical experience helping people improve their overall quality of life. Individuals I have successfully worked with have come from diverse populations of all ages who had been diagnosed with a wide range of minor to severe mental health and medical diagnoses. I have earned my Diagnostic Privilege credential and am certified to diagnose mental health conditions by the NYS Office of the Professions. I am an Eagle Scout and member of Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society in mental health counseling and Golden Key International Honor Society.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Should you choose to work with me I will do my best to set up a safe, non-judgmental, and comfortable environment in which we can work at whatever pace suits you to solve any problems and treat any mental health symptoms you want to eliminate. I use active listening to better understand my clients and empower them to direct their path to full recovery.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I help clients to find the Path of Least Resistance to Full Recovery, the fastest most efficient way of getting from point A at present to point B recovery, with the least amount of effort, energy expenditure, and added distress, to secure a healthy relationship with the self, others, and the world around us and to be in overall conscious control of your thinking, feeling, and behavior. I use many neuropsych based mindfulness practices to help clients access what neurology calls in scientific studies the Oneness Center of the Brain, containing our highest level of human consciousness, related to more powerful emotions like Love, Joy, Bliss, Peace and Interconnectedness with one's self, others, and the world around us and greater overall understanding and executive functioning.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Environments I have worked and developed skills in include mental health clinics, child and family services, substance use clinics, refugee shelters, Catholic Health, nursing home, tele-counseling, and an Independent Living Center, fighting for the rights of and assisting those with any form of disability to get their needs met, while fostering dignity of choice. I have helped individuals overcome many barriers including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, family issues, major life stressors, and other significant changes.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
I have learned mindfulness through yoga, martial arts, Tai Chi, and the study of psychology and community mental health counseling. I teach people how to use traditional mindfulness to turn off their distress, fight/flight response, and Fear and/or Hate Gene, for treating symptoms, since distress is the root cause of all disease and disorder according to top etiologists, gaining access to full executive functioning, such as problem solving, which distress impairs, and turning off unwanted negative emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I also teach advanced mindfulness practices for rapidly resolving issues, concerns, problems, and trauma by assisting clients to access what neurology calls the Spiritual and Oneness Center of the Brain, or the higher brain, which houses our highest level of consciousness, correlated with feeling stronger positive emotions like love, joy, and bliss, interconnectedness and a feeling of peace with one's self, others, and the world around us, and greater overall understanding.
