Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Illinois. I received my Masters degree in 2000 and have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years. I am committed to helping adults, young adults, adolescents and older adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, mood disorders, and stress management issues. I am looking forward to working with individuals who need support, an open and safe space to explore issues, and compassionate care! I hope you take this brave step for yourself because you deserve it!
In our initial session, my clients and I will work together to gain a full understanding and full assessment of what they want to accomplish in therapy. I hope to collaborate with the client to meet their needs and set healthy goals for therapy. I will take the time to listen and learn about you so that I can provide the best help so that you can move forward.
My greatest strengths include my honest and caring approach in working with people, I am easygoing, and I have always had a strong desire to help others.
I love working with adults and adolescents who are struggling with increased stress, anxiety or depression and want to really meet clients where they are at and help them feel more balanced, meet goals they create, and to live a full life without feeling stuck, overwhelmed and anxious. I want to help individuals realize they have the strengths needed to do the hard work!
CBT is an evidence-based practice I utilize to help clients discover unhealthy thoughts and behaviors which can impact their overall mental health and quality of life. Positive change can happen with a little hard work, support, and a caring professional to help you along the way.
My goal is to take the time to help clients understand their strengths and to allow themselves the grace to make mistakes in order to learn and grow in so many ways. I want to help clients understand that they deserve to take the time for self-care and compassion no matter what stands in the way.
I have worked in community healthcare settings and in crisis intervention so being trauma focused and providing trauma informed care is critical when working with clients who are struggling with mental health issues.
Many clients may not realize how prevalent grief can be, and I want to work with clients who may be experiencing loss in their life. I want to help clients understand that loss can be significant when someone we love dies or even something less significant when we make a job change or a relationship ends. Grief is something we all go through and I want to support clients in their journey to healing.
All clinicians start with a humanistic approach since we are person-centered in the work we do. Nothing is more meaningful in a counseling session than building rapport and making a human connection with your client in order to foster positive change and growth.
