LPCC, 14 years of experience
New to Grow
I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) based in West Central Minnesota. I live on a farm with my husband and two of our five sons, and I’m a proud grandmother of two. My faith, family, and life on the farm keep me grounded and remind me daily of the beauty in simple moments. I’ve always felt called to help others—ever since my first psychology class in high school, I knew this was the path for me. After earning my bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in counseling psychology, I spent years working in various mental health roles that deepened my understanding of people’s struggles and strengths. These experiences helped shape my holistic, compassionate approach to therapy.
Our first session is a chance for us to connect and get to know each other. I’ll invite you to share what’s been going on in your life, what’s brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll move at your pace and begin building a foundation of trust and collaboration that supports your healing journey. I look forward to meeting you and helping you take the next step toward healing.
With over five years of experience as a licensed therapist, I see it as a privilege to walk alongside clients through both challenges and growth. My approach is compassionate, faith-informed, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to find hope and healing.
I work with teens (13+) and adults facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, life transitions, and general stress. Every person’s story is unique, so I tailor therapy to fit your needs—helping you gain insight, develop coping tools, and move toward a more balanced and fulfilling life.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 5 years. It’s helped many of my patients to challenge and reframe their negative thinking, regulate emotions and change behaviors. CBT helps to recognize how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other; then to use that knowledge to change thinking patterns, which will overall improve one's mental health.
I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into individual sessions to enhance motivation and provide clients with practical skills they can apply to real-life situations. Core DBT principles—such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness—are taught as problem-solving strategies to help clients navigate challenges more effectively. Whether used as a standalone approach or woven into traditional talk therapy, DBT offers a structured framework for supporting emotional regulation and building resilience.
I utilize TF-CBT techniques to help individuals recognize and modify distorted or unhelpful thinking patterns, as well as negative emotional and behavioral responses that can occur after experiencing a traumatic event. By learning to challenge intrusive thoughts related to guilt and fear, patients can begin to restructure their thinking in a healthier, more balanced way. The goals of treatment are to foster a sense of safety and emotional security, to support the development or restoration of healthy social skills, and to empower individuals by increasing their confidence in personal growth and well-being.
By normalizing grief and encouraging healthy coping strategies, grief therapy can greatly support the healing process, foster resilience, and lead to eventual acceptance of loss and can help individuals understand and manage the complex emotions associated with grief that often arise after losing a loved one. Grief therapy helps by building resilience and developing effective coping mechanisms, to better navigate the intense emotions that come with grief. Over time, these tools can help process loss in a meaningful way and help individuals begin to move forward with a sense of purpose and emotional balance.
