About me

I am a Clinical Health Psychologist. I received my doctoral degree in Clinical Health Psychology in 2014 and completed my internship year of training at the Alpert Brown Medical School of Brown University. I've worked in Public Health for the Army, as an Assistant Professor at East Carolina University, and at the Veteran's Health Agency. My main focus is sleep. I am dedicated to helping people get a better night's rest. I treat insomnia and nightmare disorders, help people learn about and adjust to neurological and respiratory sleep disorders like narcolepsy and sleep apnea, and help prople develop confidence in managing the medical treatments for certain sleep disorders.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session we do a deep dive into your sleep history, current sleep concerns, physical and mental health, sleep habits, and bedroom environment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With over a decade helping people get a better night's rest, I'm confident I can help you learn more about the contributions to your sleep concerns and strategies you can take to improve your sleep.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I would be well positioned to serve anyone with difficulty sleeping. Sleep problems can include difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, waking up too early, non-restorative sleep, nightmares, difficulty with PAP treatments for sleep apnea, and a host of other concerns. Ideally, clients will have consultated with their primary care provider and had a full workup, to include labs and a sleep study if determined necessary.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy framework that emphasizes values, commitment to actions consistent with your values, and approaching the world in a flexible and open way. In therapy, I like to provide opportunities for exploration of our own world views, beliefs, and values, while we decide which activities we engage in serve us and which might be getting in our way. I infuse this stance and framework into all of my work.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i)

I am primarily a sleep therapist. I enjoy treating insomnia and nightmare disorders, helping people learn about and adjust to neurological and respiratory sleep disorders like narcolepsy and sleep apnea, and feel more confident to overcome difficulties with sticking with the medical treatments for these conditions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia is the gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia.
