New to Grow
My name is Loren Edwards, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This extensive background allows me to support clients with a wide range of needs, from acute symptom management to long-term personal growth. My experience in higher levels of care gives me a strong clinical foundation, a calm presence during complex or intense moments, and the ability to tailor treatment to each client’s unique history, culture, and circumstances.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In your first session, you can expect a supportive, collaborative space where we focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, identifying your goals, and exploring how your thoughts, emotions, past experiences, and strengths impact your current challenges; I will draw from approaches such as CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, Gestalt, and solution-focused therapy to meet your unique needs while ensuring you feel heard, respected, and actively involved in the therapeutic process.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
What makes my work unique is my integrative approach and depth of clinical perspective. I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet clients where they are, balancing insight-oriented work with practical, skills-based strategies. I bring a nonjudgmental, affirming, and culturally responsive lens to therapy, creating a space where clients from diverse backgrounds feel safe, understood, and empowered. I am especially well suited for clients who want a therapist who is both experienced and compassionate, direct yet supportive, and committed to helping them build lasting, meaningful change.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am best positioned to serve individuals who are seeking thoughtful, collaborative therapy and are ready to better understand themselves, manage emotional distress, and work toward meaningful change. I work especially well with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual identity concerns, family and relational dynamics, and those navigating life transitions or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns. Clients who value both insight and practical tools—whether their goals include emotional regulation, healing from past experiences, strengthening relationships, or building confidence and clarity—tend to benefit most from working with me.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
As a therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier beliefs, and build practical coping skills that improve emotional regulation and daily functioning.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
As a therapist, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness so they can manage intense emotions and navigate relationships more effectively.
Gestalt
As a therapist, I use Gestalt therapy to help clients increase present-moment awareness, explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as they arise, and foster personal responsibility and integration for meaningful change.
Psychodynamic
As a therapist, I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients explore unconscious patterns, past experiences, and relational dynamics that influence current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
As a therapist, I use solution-focused brief therapy to help clients identify strengths, clarify goals, and build practical, future-oriented strategies that create meaningful change in a short period of time.
