New to Grow
I’m a supervisory-level Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor in the State of CO, a founding member of the Colorado Mental Health Professionals Association, and have been in practice for almost 30 years. I am also an American Board of Sexology-certified Clinical Sexologist and teach graduate-level courses on sex-based issues, psychology, and addictions. A prolific writer, I've published numerous articles in a wide variety of publications, including Behavioral Health News, Journal of Sexual Health & Reproductive Medicine, and many others. I've been recognized with citations by both the US Congress and the State of NY Legislature for my work in Community Mental Health.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will begin by reviewing the issues that you hope to address through the counseling process, and I will provide a sense of the style of counseling that you can expect going forward. I will also answer any questions that you may have and discuss any trepidations you may have about the process. Before the first session is over, you should be able to come away with a good sense of my conversational style and the areas of your concerns that we will be covering .
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am a very compassionate individual, which is the primary reason I chose to become a counselor. I am here to help people - which I generally do in my day-to-day life aside from my professional work. You will find me to be sympathetic, resourceful, and client-centered - which means that your concerns, needs, and intentionswill always be the central focus of my interactions with you.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I generally work with individuals and couples who are dealing with sexuality issues, as well as those who are navigating anxiety, substance use issues, and other problematic habitual behaviors.
Sex Therapy
As an American Board of Sexology certified Clinical Sexologist, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor, I have been practicing in this field for over 20 years. Utilizing a "client-centered" approach, I believe my role is to help individuals and couples discover the best course of action for themselves in how to navigate and improve the issues they've been facing.
Compassion Focused
I am here to be a supportive ally, employing my skills to help you open up to new ways of thinking and behaving that help you lead the life you want to live, and move past behaviors and attitudes that no longer work for you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
This client-centered approach helps individuals to identify long-held habits and thought processes that interfere with a more satisfying and fulfilling life, while also learning how to develop new and more effective lifestyle choices.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
The Person-Centered approach is based on the premise that you are the expert regarding your own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors - not the counselor - and my job is to help you to figure out the most effective ways to navigate through your issues in order to achieve the therapeutic goals you set for yourself.
