Hi my name is Marielena Gonzalez. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I have worked in the Mental Health field since 2016. I help adolescents and adult clients experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, family issues, grief, and women's issues. I work with my clients via telehealth. I assist my clients in identifying triggers/uncomfortable emotion to help them build their toolbox of coping skills. The treatment modalities I utilize in treatment are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then I will provide active listening to understand my client’s concerns. Moreover, I dive into the specific challenges my clients are facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. The treatment modalities I utilize in treatment are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My approach is to build rapport with my clients to help them feel comfortable in therapy. I provide to my client’s great active listening skills and empathy. I create a safe environment for my clients to be able to express themselves without being judged. I hope to work with you soon!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help my clients understand how thoughts affect our behaviors. Using CBT skills helps us develop healthier thoughts by catching negative thoughts that affect our mood. Exercises utilized in treatment are cognitive triangle, cognitive distortions, and thought record. I have helped my clients identify cognitive distortions and challenge them to healthier thoughts.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

With Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), I have taught clients DBT skills to help manage intense emotions, situations and improve their relationships. Radical acceptance is one of the exercises I utilize in treatment. I have helped my clients build their toolbox of coping skills by using relaxation skills such as, mindfulness and five senses.
