New to Grow
My name is Sam and identify as a neurodivergent-affirming, LGBQT+ friendly, cis-female therapist. I created my practice for the purposes of helping clients increase self-compassion and build resilience in the face of adversity. I blend evidence based psychotherapy interventions with eastern practices, to promote a holistic awareness, acceptance and healing. I'm informed by 500+hours of yoga teacher training and my love of the expressive arts. Client's report that my style is warm, relatable and non-judgmental.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session we will take a deep dive into your history, work to build trust and safety within our therapeutic relationship and identify your goals for therapy.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I come to this work not as an 'expert' (although I do have a Masters degree in psychology and have been practicing for 10+ years) but rather as an Ally, who wishes to walk beside you as you explore the corners of your inner world.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are young adults 18-30 struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and/or grief.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The beliefs that we hold about ourselves, the world and the future deeply influence how we feel in the present. Together, we can identify whether specific beliefs and thought patterns serve us and promote well-being. My hope is that your trust in Self is strengthened and that you will live with more ease.
Gestalt
Gestalt is a client-centered, present moment-based, somatic practice that highlights the connection between the mind, body and spirit. By facilitating a mindfulness practice in therapy, clients will increase their awareness of how they make meaning from experience, and through that awareness, acceptance and change are possible.
Psychodynamic
Psychodynamic therapy connects clients' their early life experiences and childhood relationships to current struggles, helping clients understand the roots of their distress. This therapy encourages the expression of difficult emotions and its effectiveness is based on the insight of the client.
