Hello! My name is Cassandra Soluri and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in New Jersey. I received my Bachelors of Arts at Montclair State University double majoring in Sociology and Family & Child Studies with a concentration in family services, minoring in Sociology, and receiving a certificate in Child Advocacy. I then went on to receive my Master's in Social Work from Rutgers University and I have been practicing in the social work field professionally since 2019. I aim to help adolescents and young adults learn to cope with depression, anxiety, and stress in a healthy way and manage situational life stressors that may cause increased distress and panic. We work together to create both short term and long term goals and take little steps to make your goals a reality.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will focus on learning more about each other. I focus heavily on providing a nonjudgemental safe space and environment where the individual feels comfortable being open and sharing about his or herself and their life experiences. We will focus on building rapport and developing our therapeutic alliance. I always encourage honesty, openness, and full transparency within the therapeutic relationship during our sessions. I do my best to understand and accept each individual and meet them where they are at. Ultimately, we will begin discussing potential long & short term goals for treatment and discuss possibilities for the steps we will take to help achieve those goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

With regards to my greatest strengths as a therapist, I pride myself on my ability to accept and see my clients for who they are. I describe myself as a very empathetic and patient individual who has strong active listening skills. I have an openminded, honest, friendly, and collaborative demeanor with a good sense of humor and have a flexible approach when working clients as I know there is no one size fits all approach when working with people.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My go to treatment modality is CBT and I have been using it in a variety settings over the past few years including my private practice, IOP & PHP settings, & nonprofit organizations. I work collaboratively with individuals to identify their cognitive distortions and other thinking errors. We use the cognitive triangle to discuss the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors/actions. We continue to work together on reframing and restructuring these cognitive biases into healthier thoughts.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Over the past two years while working in a PHP and IOP setting, I have actively been incorporating elements of DBT coping skills into my sessions with individuals. I aim to psychoeducate on DBT coping skills targeted to help with symptom relief and focus on how individuals can implement those coping skills into their daily life to help manage their stressors. Within DBT, we aim to increase coping skills usage targeted at improving skills related to distress tolerance, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
