Hi! My name is Alex. I am a dual licensed LPC, or Licensed Professional Counselor and LCADC, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I am licensed and practice in NJ. I have been in the field in some capacity for over a decade. I have worked in many modalities of treatment, with diverse populations ranging in age, presenting topic, race, socio-economic status, etc. I work with clients ranging in age from 6-65. My goal is to assist you in tackling the presenting issue whether it be parenting skills, family dynamics, addiction, mood, coping skills, or other by utilizing a variety of techniques. I believe in teaching the theories and skills so that you may utilize them down the road if and when needed. I pride myself on honesty and straightforwardness, delivered with compassion and care.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with introductions, addressing any questions, comments or concerns you may have. We will briefly go over scheduling, cancellations, policy. We will then move on to history gathering. The purpose of this session is for me to gather history and hear your goals for treatment. We will wrap up with an outline of a game plan, or treatment plan, which will be solidified in session two.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in a wide range of treatment modalities, with a diverse population throughout, all with a variety of differing presenting problems, I feel as though I use a large and diverse skill set, and eclectic theories and skills to individualize treatment. None of my clients receive a standard treatment plan. Each has a very specific and individualized plan. I feel as though my commitment to honesty, helps to cement the therapeutic relationship. I am straightforward, and like to have clearly defined goals to better help you. I deliver this with compassion and empathy that I feel rounds out my clinical abilities.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize cognitive Behavioral Therspy in a simple, easy to use abd apply way with the goal of helping you identify how your thoughts and beliefs are impacting mood, and emotions as well as behaviors. I utilize CBT to help with a variety of other topics including but not limited to identifying negative thought patterns, changing self talk, identifying beliefs, etc.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

I offer specific techniques to help you understand and identify thought patterns that fuel your anxiety and equip you with coping mechanisms to reduce and manage negative emotions and unwanted or maladaptive behaviors as a result of lack of emotional regulation.

Strength-Based

I believe in highlighting and building your strengths in order to help you reach your goal.

Reality Therapy

I believe that our expectations of the world, and people in it, unconsciously impact how we view and experience the world, even if our expectations are not based in logic. By assisting in identifying expectations, altering when and where necessary, and teaching a variety of skills associated with this, your view of self, the world, relationships, can shift in a positive direction.

Psychoeducation

I believe in teaching the theories to you, so that you are present each step of the way, and later have the skill sets to apply theories if and when needed.
