LICSW, 7 years of experience
New to Grow
I began my professional career knowing I wanted to help clients. I started in the medical field and moved over to the mental health field as it aligned better with my vision. I would like to hear from you and enjoy meeting new clients. I also enjoy watching clients gain insight to achieve their goals and make positive changes. I describe myself as a trauma informed therapist with a background in both mental health and substance use disorder treatment. I have spent my career in various fields working with adults who experience emotional and interpersonal concerns. I have experience working with clients on life stress, trauma, anxiety and depression. I also have a background in treating substance use concerns. My approach is person-centered and strengths based. I operate on the premise of client's leading the journey with my support. I use validation while providing insights for clients.
In our first session, I'll listen with empathy and validate your experience. We'll explore what brings you to therapy and discuss options for navigating your concerns. I'll introduce evidence-based practices that may support your goals, and we'll begin building a collaborative relationship focused on your needs. I can assist you with the therapy process by listening with empathy and validating your experience. I can offer options of how to navigate your concerns. Some of the evidence base practices I utilize include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I have experience working with clients on life stress, trauma, anxiety and depression. I also have a background in treating substance use concerns. My approach is person-centered and strengths based. I operate on the premise of client's leading the journey with my support. I use validation while providing insights for clients. I utilize a direct and compassionate approach while gauging the client's individual communication styles. I believe clients are in charge of the therapy process and I am available to assist. I also believe therapy is a process, rather than a destination. Gradual results are more likely than instant results in most cases.
I offer services for adult individuals only. I'm available most weekdays in the morning to early afternoon. I operate with a trauma focus and attachment theory lens. Through this I assist clients to develop supports outside of the therapy session to maintain lasting success. I enjoy working with clients who are open to feedback and exploring their life and situations. Also, clients who are willing to set goals for therapy-and understanding those goals are fluid and change often as new things occur and are discovered.
I have used CBT since beginning my career. I have ran groups for Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Anger/Emotions Management and Dialectical Behavioral Skills. These are specific treatment CBT treatment methods.
I have been trained in EMDR for over 4 years now. I have worked with several clients utilizing EMDR. Whether a one time traumatic event or a lifetime of traumatic events, EMDR is a beneficial treatment method.
I approach each client as they are the expert of their life and needs. I assist client's to gain insight and explore ideas for living their best life, however they are in control of what is worked on and when.
While EMDR is a specific trauma treatment method, it is certainly not the only one or the best choice for all clients. I approach clients with compassion and empathy as they share their concerns. Clients decide what events have been traumatic to them and what events they'd like to work on.
