New to Grow
Hello, I'm so glad you are considering counseling; it is not a sign of weakness; rather it reflects strength. Therapy can help you cope with life's situations in a safe environment while strengthening your sense of purpose. I would like to share a little about my background and approach. I am a clinical social worker independently licensed in the state of Ohio since 2014. I have a background in community mental health, crisis intervention, vocational counseling/services, homeless outreach, caregiver support, and private practice. I am passionate about working with adults living with mental health related issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, and going through life challenges. My approach is person-centered and rooted in evidence-based practices where we will work collaboratively to meet your personal goals and needs.
During our first session, my hope is to provide a safe and judgement free place to foster positive changes in your life. We will talk about what has brought you into therapy and identify personal goals and needs that you would like to achieve through therapy.
I have been told by many of my clients that my greatest strength is my ability to listen and create a safe place to talk. Additionally, I have been told that my passion for helping others helps to build trusting relationships where we can work collaboratively to make positive change in achieving your goals.
Do you feel lost, uncertain of your next steps, or stuck? I work with individuals living with or struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and emotional pain that often surfaces when faced with life challenges. I will provide support and work collaboratively to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, improve self-esteem, self-worth, improve communication, develop coping skills, and a sense of purpose.
I do not believe in a cookie cutter approach that will work for everyone. Rather I have utilized a person-centered approach working in mental health field for over 20 years. I have found tailoring services to the person provides a sense of empowerment providing a safe environment to facilitate self-discovery and positive change focused on what works best for the individual.
I've been utilizing CBT in my practice for the past 13 years. It has helped many clients living with challenging recurring thoughts and managing anxiety, stress, and/or depression. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. We will then use this information to change your thinking patterns or change your behavior to reduce anxiety, depression, and/or stress in life.
I have been using motivational interviewing for the past 16 years to work collaboratively with my clients in identifying desired changes in their life, building self-confidence, and ability to successful change behaviors.
I have been using strength-based approach for the past 21 years. It has proven helpful in reducing anxiety and depression through fostering use of strengths and focusing on positive changes in one's life. This will enhance one's self esteem, confidence, and improved coping.
