LCSW, 5 years of experience
I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, California. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions. I use a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Strength-based approach to empower clients and build resilience with life difficulties. I value clients on a human level and facilitate growth towards a more fulfilling life.
In our first session, my priority is always to get to know the person and start to build trust in order to set for the following sessions with a safe and nonjudgmental space. Aside from "getting to know who you are", we will discuss reasons for seeking therapy, your expectations, and some background. Since it is the first session, I understand that it might be challenging to discuss topics with someone you have just met, and we will go at the pace the client feels comfortable with.
As a therapist, I recognize/value that we are all human first and just trying to maximize ourselves to live the best possible life we can. I prioritize my communication style to be warm, supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative when working with clients. I believe that building trust with my clients is the most important aspect of the therapeutic approach.
I typically work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress that are causing a negative impact on their lives. I assist clients in navigating the stressors and building skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life.
As a therapist I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) approach in order to assist client with identifying negative thinking patterns that affect their feelings and actions. Whether clients are having a difficult time with anxiety, depression or day to day stressors, I help client's reflect and identify how automatic thoughts are potentially hindering their self growth into a better sense of self.
As a therapist, I utilize a strength based approach to identify and/or highlight strengths within each client that I work with. Often times, we as humans forget that we have managed our own lives thus far, even in times of presenting challenges. I assist clients with finding their inner strengths and act as their biggest cheerleader.
