Hello, By the time we reach adulthood, many of us find ourselves carrying the weight of unresolved concerns. This emotional “luggage” can give rise to feelings of sadness, loneliness, helplessness, low self-esteem, hopelessness, persistent worry, and many other challenges that affect our daily lives. Let me introduce myself: I am Dr. Varda Hakobyan, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist based in Los Angeles, California. I work with a broad spectrum of psychological concerns, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, trauma, problematic relationships, behavioral issues, and more. These challenges can place a heavy burden on both mind and body, often limiting our ability to build fulfilling personal, social, and professional lives. In my work with you, I draw on an eclectic, integrative approach, tailoring therapy to your unique needs so that our work together supports both healing and meaningful growth. Most importantly, I want you to know that I strive to create a safe, positive, and non-judgmental environment, where we can build a strong foundation of trust. It is within this trustful therapeutic relationship that we can explore the deeper layers of your psyche and support your path toward well-being.
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. I’ll invite you to share what brings you to therapy, what challenges you’ve been experiencing, and what goals you hope to achieve. We’ll also review important background information, such as your personal history and current circumstances, so I can better understand your unique perspective. I’ll take time to explain my therapeutic approach and answer any questions you may have about the process. Together, we’ll begin outlining a plan that feels supportive, realistic, and tailored to your needs. Above all, you can expect a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you are heard and respected as we start this journey toward healing and growth.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is its flexibility and depth. With over 15 years of clinical experience, I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt and Rogerian modalities, and Jungian Psychology to create a treatment plan tailored to each individual. This integrative style allows me to address both immediate struggles—such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trauma—as well as deeper patterns that shape long-term well-being. Clients often share that what makes our work meaningful is not only the variety of methods I use, but also the atmosphere of trust and openness that allows for honest exploration. Within this space, they feel truly heard and understood, which fosters healing and makes genuine growth possible. Many experience both relief of symptoms and lasting personal transformation, building resilience, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.
I am best positioned to serve adults who feel weighed down by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, or relational difficulties. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves and others. Some seek immediate relief from painful symptoms, while others are motivated to gain deeper self-understanding and create meaningful change in their lives. What they share in common is a readiness to engage in the therapeutic process—whether their goal is to heal from past wounds, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, or pursue personal growth. I work best with clients who are open to reflection and willing to explore both their daily concerns and the deeper layers of their inner world.
With over 15 years of clinical experience, I provide personalized therapy for individuals working through anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, trauma, and related challenges. My eclectic approach draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Gestalt and Rogerian modalities, and Jungian Psychology, offering both flexibility and a wide range of techniques. This integrative framework allows us to explore your concerns in depth, address immediate struggles, and foster meaningful, lasting growth—always with your unique therapeutic goals at the center.

I have been working with DR. Varda for over a year. She has helped me work through my childhood trauma and other issues. I don’t know what I would do without her.

Dr. Hakobyan is a wonderful provider and helped me tremendously. She is warm and very patient, but is also focused and aims to address the specific issues that you might be facing at the time. Very consistent and pragmatic which combined with a warm and pleasant personality makes for a great experience. Highly recommended!
